2023 Thor Axis 24.1: In the back of our RV, above the bed and under the rear top cabinets, is this little black item. What is it and why is it there? Could it be the temperature sensor for the heater and air conditioner? Thank you.

Another consideration. Could the location of this sensor be the reason that the heater and AC do not work properly? If yes, what can be done to move it without tearing down walls to get at the wiring and connections?
Could be it is not working or defective, so check it for impedance- pull it out and see if you can access splice and test there. I don't know the spec for ohms- might have to call Coleman or google for info.
I was unable to find any specs.
Location should be ok. I'd look for wire damage too. (Mice)
What system do you have to control the heat? BMPro, Firefly, other? Is that working? Battery needed?
Check fuses, wiring, etc to t-stat and then make sure controls are working.

The temperature is controlled by BMPro, which was just replaced with a new BMPro. The BMPro battery shows 95% at this moment. All the wiring that I can see is intact and does not have any burning or scorch marks. All the fuses are good and the circuit breakers are all on.

BMPro batteries are dying by the carloads-dealers are not advising owners how to take care of them or the coach batteries for winter, so you should know how to do that- so make sure it isn't the BMPro that is the problem.
How are you storing the RV in winter? If heated space, you can disconnect coach batteries (B+ and B-) and store at 50-60% and then every 3 months charge each to 100%, and drop back to 50-60% and repeat in 3 months- I just use a space heater and inverter to drop the charge to 50-60%, 750W unit is "safest", and don't have near any combustibles. (no extension cord either!)
I actually remove my batteries to store indoors as my rig is out in the cold. Not easy in the tellaro/sequence/rize/scope models as they are underneath. (I moved mine inside the coach- easier to remove and maintain now)
Same with BMPro- I keep mine indoors, and have modified the outer case so I can charge it. I treat the same as my coach batteries.
Without that mod, you have to disassemble the tablet from the case, and risk misplacement of the ribbon cable or other inadvertent mistakes...
I just leave BMPro on until it's at 50-60%, then turn off using the 'reset' (power) feature (press in w/ paperclip and hold until you see 'power off' on screen- pics 3&4)
You can use this 'reset' feature to turn back on any time as well- just insert clip and hold for 1-2 sec.
Pics below show both versions of BMPro, and my cut-out on the case to allow for a phone cord/charger to keep the battery charged when in storage indoors. I used snips for the side cuts, and scored along side w/ utility knife, and flexed the loose piece until it broke off- pretty clean looking. I also snipped the sharp corners off as well.
Then you can just unplug the PC connector and insert your phone charger plug- specific fit too, so make sure you have the right type (1st pic) Depending on charger amperage, can take a few hours or as long as 7-8 hrs to get to 100%, and another long period to discharge (unplugged now) back to 50-60% unless you know how to keep it from 'sleeping' with a bright screen that will drop it faster.
It is just an Android tablet in there after all. Bottom of screen has 'back' and 'home' touch screen buttons as well as 'RVmaster' App with controls for all systems, in case you get lost.
If the BMPro is left inside in cold temps at low SOC, the internal battery will most likely die. Mine did, and I soldered in a new battery, and now remove every storage season and maintain as above.
Later versions (200 series) have no battery and just use the coach battery for power. (See if your new BMPro is the 200 series, or ask dealer/supplier which one you got (assuming they actually know).
