Poor Workmanship & Quality Control

Because of space limits, I won't go into all the problems that I have experienced with my Axis 25.2 but presently while camping there was a water leak outside the bathroom. It wasn't there when we woke up. When I removed the access cover under the Shower I could see water dripping from the 90 on the shower cold water line. I could not reach the crimp-on band from this location so I cut a hole in the wall to expose the fittings. Crimping did not solve the problem. We went home earlier from our camping trip and took the motorhome to a local repair facility. They took the paneling off to find that two of the paneling staples punctured the hot water line in two places but did not start leaking until the staple rusted. Why would one place a staple in a wall where there is water lines running? I could see placing them where the wall support studs were but. Thor Customer Service rep could not answer that question. Nor would he even discuss some level of responsibility for the problem. "We don't know who could have put those staples there." I told him I had pictures and could send him the hot water PEX for his review. NOPE! You are SOL! Another example of Thor's quality.

We had a neighbor that had their dinning room ceiling fall onto the table. The sheet rock guy put a couple screws through the pipe going up to the shower head. Same thing. Took a few years for a screw to rust.

Reading these posts ones is tempted to wonder how entire neighborhoods are not being flooded by multiple houses leaking water or burn up and how RVs are not just falling apart in the middle of the highway at 65mph every other mile....

Dealing with RVs since 2016 and I find amazing that:
1 - the factory doesn't have good assembly quality and doesn't use good quality materials
2 - the transporter doesn't care and cause damage to the product
3 - the sales force at the dealer don't care to know what they are selling
4 - the dealers don't care to fix the product before it is noted by the customer
5 - the customer don't care to understand how the MH works and what kind of maintenance he, the consumer, needs to do...

So basically nobody cares on a business where the product cost six figures a pop...

Yet, people are not dying in RVs everyday.... It is really amazing!:D

A little off topic, but have you noticed that items in stores are keeping the same price but the package contents are less. I think the small bags of chips at Subway have air pumped into them to make them appear full.

U get about 8 chips and crumbs. 😅

Your blanket statement does not apply to all. There are great RV dealers throughout the US. The most famous is NIRVC. I dealt with Youngbloods RV for 12 years and always had great service. I traveled 660 miles from home to buy my last RV because none of the Thor dealers closer to my home would allow me to stay on the property for 48 hours after I purchased the coach.

In desperation, I called MHSRV in TX and spoke to Mitch Bennett. I talked with Mitch for about a hour. I made the $1,000 deposit to hold the coach shown on the Internet, packed the car, boarded the cats, and the DW and I headed to TX from KY. On arrival, we met Mitch and went to look at the coach. Mitch showed us around the coach and back at the office showed us the Thor MC dealer's delivery acceptance checklist, as well as the road test by a delivery tech. Only the de-weatherization checks had not been preformed (it was early January).

After I signed the papers and money changed hands, we moved into the coach in the delivery barn. The next day, we went for a cruise to the dump station to see the correct way to dump. rinse and refill the coach. Back for another night in the delivery barn where found nothing wrong with the coach.

Warranty items found later were the electric part of the water heater broke and no power to the power ports on the dash. (Dropped by MHSRV on a way to the TX coast in September and the techs fixed it while we waited in the office with the cats.)

On the way home, the patio awning's LEDs quit working, so we stopped by Youngbloods RV in Mayfield, KY (a Jayco and Entegra dealer) to have them look at it. They wrote us and estimate and said give us a call when you have the parts. I e-mailed the estimate to Thor CS and when-in a week had the parts. When I called Youngbloods for an appointment, the service manager informed that Thor CS had called then and they were ready for the coach at my convenience. The next day I drove the coach over and the fixed it while I waited.

The only time the Hurricane has been back to a dealer was was to have the rear Coleman heat pump installed. The coach came as a 30 amp coach and in 2017 when I moved to TX, I converted it to 50 amps. (I helps to be a retired Aeronautical Engineer)

Montana. 1 Vegas 25.6 on lot. Others in sales office asking if I want it. Everything plugged in and ready. Few issues fixed on spit. 3 hour walk thru. Hit Texas highway no issues to Montana.
Best fun vehicle purchase ever!
Great memories.
Places we never would have gone to in a car or truck.
Best is visiting friends family..we stay in our MH!

Beau,
I AGREE WITH YOU but I think you missed that my post started with "Reading these posts ones is tempted to wonder ..." and the sarcasm at the end of the post ....
My post was ref. to the general impression that everything is bad and therefore the sarcasm and play with an exaggerated reality (my 5 points).

I too have a great dealer only 15 minutes away from my home.
Already bought 3 rigs from them and this one they asked two weeks to fix 46 items they wanted to fix before I got the coach (I had only identified a few)...
They are great and I know the head of the shop and trust him...

That being said, after almost two years chasing ghosts they where unable to identify that the problems I was having with my full wall slide was due to the factory installing the schintek system out of spec. (I had to do that by myself with help of Lippert) and after they changed and installed the system within spec. under warranty, they where unable to detect that the problems that I continued to have after the warranty work was due to bad wire between the controller and the motors....
I had to take the MH to the factory to have the cables changed and that fixed the problem...
So even a great dealer have limitations...

That is the reason why now, when I have problems with the other slide, I drive 200 miles to have the MH fixed at the factory.

In 3 years I put 23K miles on the MH and I continue to like it....

That is the reason for the sarcasm....

If the MH was so bad that it would fall apart on the road, I would have found that already!!!

But I need to say that I'm a freak for maintenance and I see many people that treat their MH as they treat their car: Use it w/o any maintenance until something breaks and then complain....

Their logic is: "I paid $200K+ for this, it should be perfect..." while they ignore the huge amount of constant maintenance that a multi million $ yatch needs to keep running....

Anyway: I applaud the OP for not doing business when He shouldn't .

There isn't a manufacture that does not have assembly problems on a lot of rigs. Sometimes you really have to look close. It does not matter witch class A, B, C, or a trailer. There are custom rigs, $$$$$, that are great. That being said, we decided on a used low mile entry level class A diesel pusher. Did I have to do some things, yes, but I expected that. A new rig would most likely be the same and not being used waiting for the dealer to fix. It is easier to do it your self. At lest you will or should do a better job than the dealer or factory. As far as all the stuff inside such as TV, Fridge, lights, etc., they are all purchased items. RV manufactures build the box and put purchased systems in them. For those items, go to a box store, hardware store, ot Amazon. You will get better replacements. RV manufactures are really systems assembly companies and the assembly leaves something to be desired at times.
