Possible Redwood Purchase...

We are planning on heading to Kentucky right after thanksgiving on a 2 week "shakedown" trip. If there is anything that needs tweaking we will have plenty of time to take it back to the dealer for corrections before some more serious travels next year.

Word of advice from my experience(s) ....... I know you guys are excited with your new Redwood as we were. Then this excitement came to a crashing halt when we discovered that our bedroom slide leaked like a sieve (dealer appointment this month) on our new Redwood (May) during our recent camping trip. I recommend the dealer doing a LEAK TEST on all of your slides on your PDI.

We aren't actually going to pick it up for a couple of weeks. Flying out early next week for a short trip. I'll have the camera for our trip to Kentucky in it so pics then...

Thomas, if you have access to a good current meter, connect it in line with the Induction cooktop and check the current draw using just a single element. Set at a power level of 10 it should draw 12 to 15 amps, if the max that us see is only 6 or 7 amps, it has a problem. Seems there is a software glitch preventing the unit from supping full power. We just went through that issue with ours, would work to cook somethings, but never did get a large pot of water boiling for some pasta. Replace our unit and now all is good in Induction land.

I'll try to get the dealer to do this when when we go for the PDI. If they won't I'll tell them to expect the unit to be right back with them after our trip if we find it's not working properly.

The induction cooktop was a neutral item for us. It wasn't a deal killer nor was it something that we were excited to see added as an "upgrade". I thought it makes the kitchen area look "cleaner". Of course she reminded me that she does the majority of the cooking so my opinion didn't matter as much. She would have preferred gas but due to the value we were getting in the deal, it wasn't going to kill it for us.

Needless to say she's going to expect that cook top to perform like it should so if it doesn't it will be back for repair or replacement.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'll let you know what we find.

Thomas, just remind Her that the induction cook to needs Pots and Pans that have a magnetic bottom (more that likely She already knows that).

If the 3rd ac gets any RW unit colder that what my 2 15000s can get it, its too cold for me. In 100 degree weather my 2 could keep my 36rl at 68 degrees.

Even though they have 3 acs doesn't mean you could run all 3 at once on only 50 amp service, is that what I understand? If that's the case, what advantage is there to have the third? I agree with Jerry, ours will get plenty cold even in 100+ degree temps.

You can easily run 3 ACs on the 50A service which actually gives you 100A capacity in 110V appliances. The problem is all the other equipment that also needs to share that 100A.

All of the 3 AC models are provided with the Power Management system that prioritizes the appliances so you don't overload the service coming in.

I've played with the PM systems in MH before, but I haven't seen what Redwood came up with in their new units so not exactly sure how it operates, but as I understand if you are running the hot water on electric, etc., it may not let the 3rd AC come on until the other power draws are through.

Ya, I think they had to go to 3 with the longer units, or at least offer the option. Like I said, mine is the runt of the litter anymore at 38 ft

We can hang meat in ours as well with the 2. The 3rd would be nice in that it is isolated to the bedroom. our bedroom area is usually 4 degrees different than the rear. when you bring the front to a comfortable temp to sleep the DW is freezing in the rear with our current setup

I would be hesitant about running with the propane on. The rubber line that feeds the stove runs right above the driver side tires. In the event of a blow out you may get more than you bargained for

The valve on the propane bottle will shut off almost immediately if the line ruptures, but you would still have what's in the lines.

I'm pretty sure that is only a rupture upstream of the regulator. I don't believe you generate sufficient flow downstream of the regulator to cause the safety valves on the cylinder or pigtails to activate.

Yep! I stand corrected! But do you turn of your refrigerator while traveling? Do you turn off lp bottles & purge the lines before traveling? If not you have that possibility even without running the furnace! I know these manufacturers aren't rocket scientist, but I believe if there was a chance of a blowout causing a fire related to that lp line I truly believe they wouldn't run it outside the frame above the tires.
