Propane heater does NOT stay on

Ducksface comment about the regulator freezing up is in my opinion right on. Next time it happens try pouring some warm water over the regulator and see what happens

If it is the regulator freezing does that indicate that a larger or high BTU rating is required

We have a 2023 Thor Axis 24.1. The propane heater works fine for 2 to 3 hours. Then is shuts off and does not come back on until the next day. The propane tank starts full and the heat shuts off when it is between 2/3 and 3/4 full. The thermostat is controlled from the minicomputer panel that controls everything in the RV. Please let me know any ideas that will help this heater to work throughout the night.

NOTE: The stove works fine even when the heater does not. The refrigerator also works off the propane and has not had any issues.

Again, the stove would not continue to work if there was a propane delivery problem from the tank/regulator.

I agree it is not the regulator but my question remains does a freezing regulator indicate just replacing or a larger BTU rating is required

A regulator should not freeze unless it has liquid flashing to vapor in the regulator. That process is normally confined to the tank, cooling the tanks as vapor is drawn off. Even with excess flow, there is a lot of thermal mass in the tank including the liquid propane that would half to cool below freezing before any frost would even approach the regulator.

That temperature is easier to achieve when the ambient temperature is at or below freezing, but then you need the water vapor to freeze, either inside where the propane flows (water contamination) or outside from the atmosphere. But generally, the ambient humidity is very low when the ambient temperature is that low to begin with.

Thank you for your response. I have never seen a regulator freeze but then again in Los Angeles things rarely freeze burn yes but only when a local teams wins or loses. Some locals use any excuse

So ours never works when raining or for a few days afterwards. Usually 3 days in the garage it will work again. The board was replaced but my guess is it does not matter due to the board sits on a horizontal surface so the rain gets to the new one as well.

How is water getting circuit board , not in a covered box

Can only guess that the panel does not have enough of a gasket. It is a flat plane with a foam padding and screwed to body. The exhaust pipe will have water in it as well. Collects while driving down the road. Would have never bought a Class A with propane if I knew this. Next rv- Newmar all electric.

Is there any way to raise pipe so water would naturally drain out

With money all things are possible. Would require modifying a manufacturer part followed by a four different color paint scheme. Would cost less to switch to an electric furnace.

I would think you could raise vent inside , leaving outside as is. The vent tube should be inside a wall and use access thru bathroom. I did not look at your layout guessing that where heater is

The only access is through a panel on outside of the coach. It is a class A

Mine is a class A and o have access through bathroom inside and panel from outside. Sorry can’t help

Thanks, we do have access from head but just air return and ductwork.

There was a recall for those models that raised the circuit board off the horizontal and hung it at an angle. When I replaced my board with a Dinosaur board I engineered a similar board relocation mod. Haven't had an issue since.

Hello to all. I greatly appreciate your answers and assistance. After my last posting, there were family health issues that had to take priority over the RV. Replacing the igniter board sounds reasonable. My issue is that I do not know which Dinosaur board to order. Here are pictures of the board in my RV. Any help you can give to identify the correct replacement is appreciated. Thank you.

Anyone confirm if this is possible? I thought the thermostat is wired to the heater and A/C directly.
Now, can the OP provide the furnace model number or jumper the furnace thermostat input directly (blue wires), or does this model provide a flashing LED for diagnostics?
