I'm looking for a little info on purchasing a transfer fuel tank. I recently bought a pullrite 2700 to go in my 2007 mega cab 3500 and was wanting to know if someone has this same setup and could give me the measurement from the front of the bed to the front of the hitch. The hitch has a little overhand because of the way it goes on the industry standard rails.I could do this very easily but I'm currently in Germany (military) and wantreturn home until June and would like to order the largest tank possible. I have a long trip, GA to AK with several stops in between. Anyone with a 3rd gen dodge short box with the same set up will work, the mega cab beds are the same length.
I've had several people on another forum give me all the measurements from the front of the bedto the front of the rail / wheel well / width of bed ect but no one could tell me the actuall distance I need. Thanks

Be careful of adding those tanks, remember every gallon of fuel adds 7 lbs of weight. Thus if you get a 50 gallon tank and fill it it adds 350 pounds this takes away from you load capacity IE Kin pin weight

I have toyed with the idea of adding more fuel capacity to my truck but if I did I would go the route of a larger fuel tank instead of putting a second tank in the bed of my truck.

Yeh I've thought about going the rout of adding the titan replacement tank but it only gives you an additional 15 gals. I am looking for about 85-90 gals on board so I need a 50-60 gal tank. I'm not too worried about the additional weight, I had a 90 gal auxiliary tank on my old 03 3/4 ton cummins and never even came close to maxing out the vehicle weight. My 07 3500 has an additional 900 lbs carrying capacity than the old one.
Oh, the titan replacement tanks go for about $1400 or so where as a auxiliary tank can be had for half that price.

I installed a Transfer Flow replacement tank and the quality is really high. You might check out their website as a I know they also make in-bed tanks as well.
