We bought a used 2003 Four Winds Fun Mover in April 2024. We are needing to remove the 7.5kw generator and are needing to know how to do this? I think it slides out from the compartment, but not real sure. Can you help?

Without knowing the model Fun Mover or generator the best I can do is say most Onan generators are dropped out from the bottom:

What ACE said.

What ACE said. In 2003 could be a Generac or Onan. It would help to have some more info

Model is FNMVR35C and it's a Onan Quite Cummings 7500 watt generator. I have seen the videos of dripping it out the bottom, but the issue is ours sits on a bracket that is all welded together with two support brackets on the bottom that are welded onto the frame. Hope this helps. Thank you for your help.

Floor jack to lower unit, and tools to remove bolts etc.
Main concern would be to locate the other end of the B+ cable for the starter and the B+ feed cable.
Those would be my first thing to remove so you don't make fireworks or start accidentally welding something!!
Fuel line too- find at source (fuel tank) and find a way to remove and cap safely.
I removed an Onan from my old 2001 Rialta and those cables were quite alive when I did it, so I had to find the 'other' end and disconnect there first. Mobile tech can help too.
Jack up slightly to remove any tension on hanger hardware.
If re-purposing the compartment, I would NEVER use any wood product, especially 'chipboard' as seen in video. I use seaboard or aluminum for exposed-to-road elements, and in general. Chipboard (aka Aspenite) is on my list of materials to never use anyways, along with particle board and any other wood sheet material, including in houses.
Be safe, and good luck!

Thank you Mark, but ours will not drop out the bottom. I would have to unbolt the whole support rack and that is not very accessible.

Rats- well, as they say, 'where there's a will (or wheel)..." Good luck- I bet you'll figure it out. Got any place with a lift you can use?

Maybe if you stated WHY you need to remove it, more help could be provided.
Is it dead? Possible it can be fixed or overhauled.
If you just do not want it (why?) then that's a different story. Maybe a purchaser that knows their 'stuff' could remove it for you.

JeffThor325 has a 1995 Columbus and removed his generator. I don't know how well that will correlate to your RV but you might want to give him a shout. His profile:

It works, we just need to do a service on it. We are not sure when the last service was. We know you don't have to remove it for oil changes and a few other things. According to some people we have talked to we need to adjust the valves.

 Are "some people" qualified?
I'm no mechanic; If, in fact, that is true, are you qualified to do that?
Are there any symptoms of any problem?
Perhaps, if it runs, all is well. If uncertain of service, a simple oil and plug change will ease your mind.
"Don't throw out the baby with the bath water". :geek:

We bought this and we don't know if this has ever been done and not sure if it had ever been done and our mechanic recommended that we do this to be on the same side.

Your mechanic recommended this just to be safe? And then he doesn't know how to remove it.
IMHO: Run away from this mechanic.

IMHO a good generator mechanic would already know how to drop and service the generator.
Second, the maintenance schedule for the QD 7500 goes out to 1000 hours (and then repeats) and adjusting the valves is not on it.

Change the oil and filters.
Check and replace the Air Filter if necessary.
Check and replace the coolant if necessary.
If over 1000 hours check and replace coolant hoses if necessary.

Anything else would be corrective maintenance and probably best left to Onan Cummins.

We are not real sure how many hours are on it. All we know is the lady that had it before us ran it all day every day. We just want it gone through to make all is ok. We don't want to wait for it to break down and have to by a new one.

A generator without an hour meter? OK.

My recommendations above assumed over 1000 hours on the generator and covered all PM items in the Onan manual.

Well since we are getting criticized about what we want to do, you can ignore my first question. Thanks for no help.
But look how much you learned along the way.

Like: "Do I really need to remove my generator?" There was no criticism, there was people trying to save you money and unnecessary work.
