We were ready to take our brand new Redwood 36FB out for its
maiden voyage / shake-down cruise� It had sat alongside the house since we
brought it home from the dealer in December�
I partially retracted the rear jacks (successfully) and attempted
to retract the landing gear. </span>The landing
gear retracted enough to hook-up the truck, BUT was still on the ground and
would not retract any further! </span>I
extended the slides to get to my owner’s manual and discovered the slides would
not retract either. </span>It was like I had
only half a hydraulic system. </span>It could
extend the jacks and extend the slides BUT could not retract either. </span>I figured I was really screwed. </span>
I did all the normal stuff� Turned the system on and off� Turned
battery power off and back on again� Pulled/replaced all fuses/ circuit
breakers remotely related to the hydraulic system in an effort to re-set the
system. </span>Nothing worked!
I called my dealer� he called Redwood,� they had him call Lippert�
</span>The dealer called me back (ALL WITHIN FIVE
MINUTES!) </span>There are two wires plugged
into a terminal block on the frame right next to the hydraulic pump (spade
connections) </span>One is yellow and the other
is green. </span>One drives the pump motor in
one direction to ‘retract’ and the other drives the pump in the other direction
to ‘extend’. </span>
Apparently retracting the landing gear torqued the frame
enough to pop one of those spade connections totally off the terminal
block. </span>I am a big guy and getting my
head, shoulders, and arms into the hydraulic compartment was not easy BUT re-connecting
the yellow wire that had come loose fixed my problem and allowed our maiden
voyage / shake-down cruise to get underway�
The balance of the shake-down cruise was pretty uneventful! </span>We suffered with lousy (cable) picture
quality on our high definition wide-screen television for a day and a half
until we realized the booster was still turned on from when we picked up our
trailer from the dealer� And the shower leaked because of sloppy caulking
in/around the shower door threshold (three-piece sliding shower door on the

.
