We are brand new Redwood RV owners! Gave up the Montana fifth wheel and upgraded to a 2018 3901WB. We love the space and the layout but not the new rig bugs that came along with it. hehe. We knew it would be inevitable with any new RV regardless of manufacturer.

We are currently based in North Texas as full-time RV'ers and are really enjoying our new home.

One question that is currently plaguing us are issues with getting service approved under the manufacturer warranty. Our hot water heater cracked and we are having to jump through some pretty crazy hoops to get an obvious manufacturer defect addressed. Anyone else experienced this? We just bought this rig the first of October 2017.

Looking forward to connecting with other Redwood owners as part of this forum!

Welcome to the forum and to the Redwood experience. I hope you do enjoy your new home on wheels. As far as getting warranty help I am not much help since we have not dealt with any issues since Redwood is under Keystone. Seems to me like a cracked water heater when still under warranty should be an easy fix, but in the RV world it can be made to not so. Just have to fight through it.

Rob and Shaundra, Welcome to the Forum. Hope you will enjoy your Redwood as much as we do ours. Is the Water Heater leaking from freezing and cracking or from a microscopic robotic weld failure at one of the fittings? Hope the manufacturer of the water heater doesn't come back with failure due to not winterizing and it was caused by freezing. Good luck on the warranty process, we purchased our Redwood when it was 2 years old so we didn't have a factory warranty, we have an extended warranty but none through Redwood/ Crossroads/ Keystone/ Thor.

I think I would take some pictures if that will show the problem and then contact the water heater manufacturer directly and see if they will authorize replacement by a mobile tech. You may have to pay the labor $$$ but would probably be cheaper than taking th rig to a dealer anyway.

Welcome.

Our water heater stated leaking at 10 months. Redwood told Lazy Dayz in Tucson to work directly with Suburban. They sent pictures of the tag and water running out of the bottom of it. Suburban sent a new one and LD installed.

The old water heater had a rusted hole on the left side in the middle of the tank. Theory was that the glass lining cracked after it was dropped sometime before installation at the factory. Took a month start to finish.

I built a rain gutter system for the water to run into a bucket after I removed the compartment wall. It was nice for Redwood to install the water heater bypass.
