Hello All ..I have an 2014 Thor freedom Elite 28H ..I need to replace the rear shocks before our Christmas trip to Miami , FL ..I have searched this site and YouTube for some direction on how to remove the rear shocks to no luck ..I crawled under there today and noticed hardly any room on passenger side to get to top bolt between steel plate and exhaust hanger in my way .. I was in my work clothes so I couldn’t get a look at the driver side with more sales calls to go to ..Do I need to Lift the rear axle to remove shocks ? I hear two stories ..Yes and No ..Any input would be greatly appreciated..

This sounds very familiar of a recent thread of a Class C (as I recall) and inaccessible rear shocks. I don't know if the poster posted his solution. I'll see if I can find it.

I have been changing shocks on many different types of vehicles for years and they always are a pain in the ass, especially the top. Sometimes you have to use a ratchet wrench at the top and stabilize the shock from turning by using vise grips on the shaft. Sometimes you can get an air wrench up there with a swivel drive. It just depends on the vehicle. Just be prepared to be frustrated and in the words of Nike "just do it". Often an experienced friend can make the job much easier.

Got after it today ..Purchased an 14” long ratchet wrench , Had to go in from the a different direction close to the driveshaft between the floor and heat shield once I broke the nut loose , I turned the shock until it came loose ..Now looking for a Black Friday deal on read Bilsteins 33-176857

Finished the install within an hour it’s unbelievable the difference in the ride ..No more getting blown off the road by Semi Trucks and smoother ride ..I may replace the fronts when we get back from our 3k mile trip this month from IKC to Miami , FL
