Safe?

I know it's been a while since I had a bumper tow, but how safe is it to pull like this?

It's hard it tell in the photo, but there is at least a foot (maybe more) between the front and back. The TV is a Ford F350.

They say it is better to be nose down than nose high but that does seem a little excessive. Did he have a wdh set up? It's hard to tell by the pic but The truck looks level. Just gotta wonder how well that handled for him going down the road.

X2 - it looks like a hot shot service. The truck is a DRW and they are set up to haul mostly 5ers and don't worry about proper set up for a TT. Usually you won't see any type of equalizer hitch/ sway control with these guys or any attempt to level the trailer. He/she is likely doing a distance run to a dealer. I've seen some pretty wild sway out of these guys when rolling down the interstate.

BTW, the TV in the pic is a Dodge DRW, you can tell by the moose antler mirrors.

Agree - probably MORE than enough truck for the dry trailer and so little care was taken in the hookup

probably ok for short hauls, but those front rv tires are taking the brunt of the stress and you KNOW they are st tires so they will probably pop soon

Would the trailer have a license plate on it already if it's headed to a dealer from the factory?

So many trailer owners here just hook and go. Level? What's level?

I'm going to bet it is in transit. I say this because once the dealer gets it. They will paste their logo and decals all over the backside. One of the first things I did to my unit when I got it home was remove the www.xxxxxxxxx decal the dealer had on the back. Unless they want to pay me to advertise, get it off my unit!

Or, maybe this is the owner and he did exactly what you did, hence no advertising here.
That doesn't appear to be a dealer license plate either?

Looks like a CA. plate.
The haulers all have a plate, but it's a commercial plate. That's why they have to stop at the scales and we don't.
I can't see it well enough to tell.

It's not the correct colors for a CA plate. Maybe Michigan instead. I agree, too hard to tell if commercial.

I would have hoped a legit hauler would have taken a little better care pulling someone elses property. As a professional driver, I would have had more respect for that or if it belongs to the TV pulling it, why trash that front axle.

Considering hot shot drivers that deliver these are sometimes far from professional it doesn't surprise me a bit. I've seen many pulling TT down the highway with immense sway issues and still trying to maintain 70mph because none of them use a WDH and sway control setup when they deliver them from the factory to the dealer. Just hook up and go - don't even adjust their hitch heights at all.

Looks like a sloppy job hitching up. Even without our sway control/weight distribution, our trailer sits leveler than this. I'll bet the hitch is too low. We had to buy a different hitch for our pontoon boat because it was riding too high at the hitch and low in the back. There are a lot of different rises and drops. Some are adjustable.

First time I have seen a license plate mounted under the right hand tail light. All trailers I have had was on the left hand side.

From the picture it appears the rear axle has very little weight on it.

I would really expect a transport driver to use an adjustable hitch system to ensure a level ride.
I still think this guy is an amateur, not very savvy at towing.

Ex, I agree with the left vs right. Never seen this right side mounting. Not sure if there's any requirements for attaching?
