Just received this recall notice. It seems some power awnings have a certain electric motor that is subject to damage which may cause the awning to unfurl unexpectedly.

I'll post what my service department advises as soon as I speak with them. In the meantime, no further trips until this issue is resolved.

My Dealership Parts Department has ordered the recall kit and advised it should be received in a week. More to follow...

The Dealership has received the recall kit and I have an appointment to replace the defective components next week.

Dometic awning ?

So if you are on the road and this awning unfurls and you are lucky enough to get stopped before damage, what is the procedure for restoring the awning and disabling the power to prevent it from happening until you can get to a dealer? Just wondering as I am flying in to pic up my 24c next week and face a 1000 mile ride home. In the meantime I will ask the dealer to check the serial number of the one on the unit but I like to be prepared in case something does happen.

I was in San Diego when my recall notice was sent. Had I known about the condition I would have zip tied the awning arms so they couldn't extend during the trip home. It's a serious situation. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

Dometic power awning electric motor assembly replaced. Awning runs great. We're back on the road!
