Ok, to start with I must say that I am a salesperson and I hire sales people for my business. So I'm not against sales people BUT I'm amazed at what comes out of their mouths sometimes. Some of the information is so wrong that it's funny. I guess since I hire salespeople I'm more critical of them, so I thought it might be entertaining to hear some of their wisdom when it comes to RV sales.

case in point #1 Last week I was shopping for a new truck so I went to all the dealers to see what they had on their lots. I was at a Dodge dealership and a salesperson came over to my wife and I to help. After telling him what I wanted he said I was crazy for wanting a 3500. He said that those numbers in the brochure mean nothing at all...a 1500 would pull anything I could conect to it.

#2 One of the local dealers tried to sell me a used trailer that weighed over 15000lbs empty. I told him that my truck couldn't pull the trailer with anything in it. He said that he pulled it with a 3/4 ton truck and that there was nothing to worry about. He said "The only people looking at those numbers are truck salespeople trying to sell you a new truck"

So Dave, did you buy a new 1/2 ton to tow your Redwood???? At least he was half right, about the number in brochures hardly worth the paper they're printed on.

It's amazing what some sales people will say to make a sale. can you emagine the liability, if they sold you a 1500, knowing what you planed on towing with it. if you see a salesperson with a black eye or a fat lip.does that mean stay clear.

Wow Dave I have a brand new 1978 Toyota tundra for sale and it will pull anything and to make the deal even better I will trough in a complete set of metric crescent wrenches and a pair of left handed pliers. You can have all of this for just $40000.00 what a ya say we got a deal?

I think Dave is too busy making his deal for that new 1/2 ton or maybe even a Honda Ridge Line to pull the new Redwood he's got.
Wants to show the rest of us that you "Don't need No stinkin Dually to pull a Redwood"Edited by: mhs4771

That's possible or maybe he's trying to figure out how to get his redwood off the back of that Toyota

Put a modified hitch on the back of a VW MicroBus!! Would get great mileage as you probably wouldn't get out of the driveway.

Sorry I sent my 1985 Nissan King Cab to the wrecker this spring... I would have given it to Dave just to see the photo of the new trailer on the back!

That's right...why buy more tires? The 4 I have I fill with helium so they weigh less.

I'm certain a VW could pull a 5er..... Here's proof:

and the video:

Just imagine what you could pull with a VW Diesel...

See ....now that's good thinking! Look at the MPG I'd get with that

I could hook another VW to the trailer hitch in back that my wife could push with.... so it'd be like "push harder baby, here comes a hill"

. What team work! Besides then she could listen to her radio station while I listen to politics on my radio. This fixes everything, a dually only has 6 tires and I'd have 8.......this has to be better.

It took me two weeks to find out the real difference between a Ford F250 and F350 super duty diesel. Long story short, one extra leaf spring in the rear. Everything else is the same except in some cases the tires.

I went with the F250 short bed and added a pair of Firestone bags with wireless remote. We have 4K on them so far and we are please with the setup.

FYI, we are averaging 12.9 MPG towing flat and 12.2 over hill and dale.

You're right....but make sure you weigh your trailer. As you can see I have a SRW 2011 F350 but I had to trade it in at a great loss because even though my truck was rated for 4000lbs, after weighing my trailer I found I was over loading the E range tires on back. My drive axle was at 7140 lbs with full fuelwith the trailer empty and my wife and I both in the truck. This only gave me room to put 360 lbs in the front of my trailer before I exceeded my tires abilities. Keep in mind though that I have options you may not have like a generator, wash/dryer and dual pane windows. The nice thing about the Redwood is that they were designed tobe pulled with SRW trucks until you load them up like I did.

As of Wednesday I'll have a dually even though I really didn't want a dually because I use my truck for business. I'll probably also ending up buying a new sales car now too. It's only money!

After pulling ours fully loaded I would not consider a SRW truck they may pull it but there is a lot more than getting moving to consider.

How did your's pull Bryan?  Mine pulls like a dream.  Have you gotten the stairs by everybody at the campground?
She pulls like a dream! We pulled into the campground last night about 11:00 and this morning people are stopping and staring, I don't know if they looking at the rig or if they think they got a new camp host because we pulled the Montana out about 2:30 yesterday.
