Where are the batteries?
The batteries are under the coach- The Tellaros and Sequcence models have them just in front of the rear axle in boxes.Where are the batteries?
Thanks for the info. I would like to attach a cable so I can trickle charge. The 20L is stored under a canopy and doesn't get enough sun to keep the house batteries fully charged. But it sounds like a difficult task. Even the Promaster battery is not something that would try to R&R.
Why not simply plug in to shore power? Your inverter/charger will keep the batteries on float. Trickle charger or shore power, either way requires electricity. Shore power is easier and doesn’t require an additional “attachment”.
As I mentioned the Tellaro 20L will not charge the chassis battery when plugged in. There is no 'bi-directional charging' in the 20L. My 20AT had that via a BIM module underneath that would charge both battery systems, b/c they were both lead-acid based batteries.
But when Thor changed to Lithium/UHG system, they left that out. Dealers had no idea.My chassis battery was at 11.2V after 4 days, just sitting at home. I was dumbfounded and sought answers and got none from dealer. Nothing in the manual either.
The easiest thing for you to do is get a NOCO 2A clamp-on type trickle charger from Amazon, and connect to the jumper posts up front under the bonnet- super easy- flip up the B+ cover and attach B+ cable there and remove the protective sleeve off the ground post at the fron edge of the opneing and connect B- cable there- plug into any 120V outlet.
See attached pic-
If plugged into shoreline, use the left rear outlet on the 20L. I keep mine attached all winter and used between trips when parked at home until I rewired my entire RV and upgraded to 600Ah battery system.
I do that for winter storage since I can plug into shoreline in summer when batteries are in and have my internal 2A charger connected to my e-start solenoid which is now up inside the electrical compartment.
For you just easier to use jumper posts and 2A NOCO, which is a 'smart' charger that auto senses battery type and when and howm much to charge, and stop.
PM me for more details about the rewire process.
Actually... this one is.And allows the correct charger to be used. There's really no such thing as a LiFePO4 trickle charger.
OOPS- after all my exhaustive response... (deleted)Thanks for the info. I would like to attach a cable so I can trickle charge. I hate getting old. I made a corrected post. Thanks! All good info but the OP is referring to charging the house batteries not the chassis battery.
yes and yes! That's a multi battery type trickle charger. By design, a lithium BMS will shut off charging when the battery is full.
I have a pdf about the whole process-Hi,
Do you have any pictures of how/where you moved the batteries?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris- I'll send another message w/ email- I may have lost any request from you- sorry! MarkI have a pdf about the whole process-
Lots of pics, and mods to system. Way better to have batteries up inside.
So dumb where they out them.
I'll PM my email address to you, and you can get a copy.
Actually it does not. If set on LFP batteries, when the batteries are fully chargrd and the BMS shut-off current, the charger shuts down and the display reads "FUL"
