2013 ace 29.2 My motors are working. It isn't synced. The problem is the last three teeth on the upper rail in the back are squished. When you bring it in, you can sometimes hear popping from the top back rail.

It still works but is touchy now. The mobile tech I had come help me get it in said he doesn't have the tools to fix the rail but thinks if we get it synced back up it'll be fine. Im skeptical.

Won't those missing teeth throw it out of sync every time? Also an FYI, we are going to sell it so I'm not looking to replace or upgrade the system. But I also want to be upfront with buyers about the issue.

Tldr: does the single rail need to be replaced because three teeth are squished when the other three rails are fine and all the motors work?

I would check that the motor is secure. Not too hard. Access from the outside top. if the motor is loose, the gear will pop out of the slide track at the moment of max torque when the wall hits the stops on the way in. Then the slide track will sustain damage.

That is your answer. You simply tell the potential buyer of the issue allow him to fix or not. You can also give him your Mobile Tech's name and tell him prospective buyer what Tech told you as to why you are not getting it fix.

If it were mine, I would fix, but I get it if you intend to sell. If I were buying, I would appreciate your honesty, but I would probably run and find another coach. I would insist it was fixed before I bought, but that is just me. Maybe agree to deduct the cost to fix off the sales price if I were buy.

Adding to GeorgePal's post, I would suggest removing that existing screw and replacing with a slightly longer (stainless steel) one... about 1/8" to 3/16" longer. This will help keep the motor seated in the collar as it twists and torques. The "popping" you hear is the motor trying to jump up out of the collar. It's probably why the track teeth are chewed up.

I would avoid "testing your luck" using the slide a lot. The rear motors are often a REAL bear getting in and out to replace. I'd replace that screw first... it might save you a $70 motor and lots of busted knuckles and a back sprain!

After replacing the screw (I suggest BOTH screws - front & back), try the syncing process... holding the slide button until both motors "amp out"... about a five count after the slide stops. You may be good... but explain that to potential buyers to be on the up-and-up.

I put it in the buyers court. Take it as is with a price cut or make a deposit and agree to asking price and ill get the whole system replaced. Quote was 2700 to put in a whole new system from a local dealer.

Thank you all for the replies and recommendations.
