We just purchased a 2020 Thor Windsport 29M. We informed the dealer of a soft spot in the shower just to the left of the drain. After the shop “checking” it, they said it was a design flaw and the shower drain pipes were in the way so the floor was open under that small area to accommodate the plumbing. Maybe I’m a skeptic, but not believing that story. Anyone had issues with a soft spot to the left of the drain on a 29M?

If you believe that I have a bridge in San Francisco I would like to sell you. Sounds like dealer doesn’t want to fix on their dime , but if it’s used wouldn’t that be “as is” sale

Might be some truth to it... depending on the floor area of your shower vs your weight vs how the wood supports were placed underneath. Showers are usually installed on a wooden framed platform of sorts, with a (sometimes not so obvious) access panel... meaning carefully prying out staples.

Consider that route... you might find (easy) a situation just needing a block of PT wood. Or you might find (harder) rotted framing members. But at least you can develop a plan at that point.

Only once the contract is signed, which it is not finalized yet!

The shower floor in my 29M has been 'soft' since day 1. I have never opened the hatch in the wheel well to look at the construction, but I seem to remember a thread on this forum about the lack of blocking under the shower.

Easy to fix.

Open the hatch. Measure the gap between the bottom of the shower pan and the floor. Rip down a strip of pressure treated 2x6 to the correct width. Jam it in there and put the cover back on and you're done.

The hole under the shower pan was cut excessively large leaving insufficient support for the fiberglass.

I too have a soft spot in my shower. I also discovered that my shower drain was not properly sealed, so I suspected it was the case of a water damaged floor. I'm still not unconvinced, but Thor, Inc. gave me the same answer. Either way, having repaired water damaged roofs, walls and flooring, I'm not overly concerned. My spot seems to be inches wide, which if it is water damage, means approximately 6X the diameter. Still as long as the drain is sealed, it shouldn't get any worse.
