Airbag light on dash has been illuminated since we took ownership.
Take to RV dealer, they say, take to Mercedes.
Take to Mercedes, they say, the wiring for activating the seatbelt in case of crash is installed improperly and when the seat is rotated, it cuts or pulls out the necessary wires. They say that Thor installs the rotating chairs/wires. They say they've seen 4 rigs with this same defect.
Mercedes dealer says if you pay out of pocket, it would be around $400 to fix. They say Thor will not pay them to do it under warranty....so take it back to RV dealer.
RV dealer, says, "I thought Mercedes puts in those seats" but says will contact Thor and get back to us on how to rectify.

Anyone else have this problem?
How was it resolved?

See that's where I would lose patience , pull the seats myself, repair and extend the wiring and call it done.
I know it's a warranty issue and one of the two mentioned should fix it but my time is precious and I would hate wasting it going back and forth while Thor and Mercedes decide who is in the mood to fix their product.

I have heard of this problem - our walk thru guy said "don't turn the seat and ... do something". Seems like something the dealer would fix - especially if THEY should have told you.

What electrical wiring goes to the seat? On our Gemini, also on the Sprinter chassis, I see no wire to the seat, its all manual. In answer, I have not seen that problem on ours, at least not yet.

I think it is just the seat belt detection light on the console - no other purpose.

As the Car Talk guys would say, put some black tape over the light!

The wiring under the seat is for the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) if the light is on the airbags will not activate in a collision. The SRS is controlled by a computer, it senses which airbags to activate and records all faults in the system.

monitors seat belt fastened and may also determine if seat is occupied.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Yes. Hopefully we won't be in a crash before Thor/General RV agrees to a fix. Still waiting to hear back from them.

Thanks for correcting my mis-information! More important than I thought.

I guess the question still is: what particular action with the seats, causes this wiring damage? I know my dealer told me - I think it had something to do with rotating the seats and then (something)??? I remember thinking "we will never do that." But maybe we will!

I didn't know either--- Dealer left that wire disconnected after removing seat to replace a fuse or relay. Had SRS light.. Tech explained the purpose.

On the Siesta the wire is long enough to allow the seats to rotate.

SRS on sprinter 24HL

Same issue, light on since purchase...dealer said to go to Mercedes, Mercedes says dealer has to fix...so I called Thor in Indiana...guy told me Thor will reimburse me if I pay Mercedes to fix...And airbag will not deploy if not fixed...so having Mercedes fix the issue and sending bill to Thor.
