Received a safety recall from Thor, recall RC000325, concerning an issue with being able to extend the slide without having the parking brake engaged. In other words, you could extend the slide while moving. The information in Thor's letter was basically to take your RV to a dealer and have the parking brake harness replaced. If you look up the NHTSA Recall 25V-171, you can get more detailed information. Basically, the parking brake wire harness had a mis-wire that went undetected for a few years with 4,251 RVs having this problem. This sounds simple enough to fix if someone had more detailed information on the wiring schematic. I would like to avoid the long drive to the dealer and longer time dealing with the service department.

Interesting Rocky. I have not received the recall notice for my 2023 Thor Axis 24.1 which is on the E450 chassis. But I will look it up against my VIN. I hope you can find the information so you can DIY the repair. I have no close FORD dealers either that can work on an RV chassis. Closest one is about 1.5 hours away.

Thor Motor Coach Axis, March 6,2023 to March 5, 2025 is included in the recall. For clarification, the repair is being done by Thor not Ford because this is a modification Thor made to the Ford chassis. The NHTSA website has some excellent documentation on this recall, Home | NHTSA When it opens, click on the "+" to expand, then expand the documents section at the bottom.

I received the recall notice but my slide seems to be working properly. In fact not only does the parking brake have to be in, the engine has to be running. I liked my 2018 where the engine didn’t have to be running.

I followed the procedure in Rockymtn’s post and emailed the results to Thor, they accepted the test and completed the recall for my VIN. Thanks Rocky, saved a ton of time.

Mine is exactly the same. In fact I have a long driveway from my shop to our access road and while under movement we tried to extend the slide. It would not move and only works when parked, emergency brake applied and coach running. I am not driving 200 miles round trip to a dealer to verify ours is correctly wired.

Was there a change in regulation that drove this requirement? I also have a 2018 and the slide will move as long as the engine is off, no matter whether the parking brake is engaged or not.
Engine running and parking brake engaged sounds annoying. I do make sure shore power is plugged in or generator running so there's enough power to run the slide motors without excessive voltage drop.

I have a 2023 Thor Chateau 28Z. When I heard about it, I reached out to Thor (on their website) and provided my VIN number. They got back to me by the next day to tell me that my motorhome is not part of the recall.

I had received the recall letter from Thor. I checked if I had the problem of being able to move the slide out with the parking brake off. Followed the instructions in the NHTSA Recall 25V-171 documentation. Fortunately, I did not have the problem. I called Thor and explained to them I wasn't going to spend $50 on gas and most of a day taking it to a dealer. Told them I used the NHTSA document for checking for the problem. They asked a couple of questions and then checked me off the list of having verified the problem wasn't on my unit.
