While camping at Lion Country Safari over 4th of July another arriving Camper came too close to our ACE and tore off the passenger side mirror with heater and camera. See photo.

I got a Mobile RV Tech to remount it for the 200 mile journey home.

Their insurance is covering the replacement at 1275.00 material and labor.

I have appointment to have mirror replaced this Monday.

My question is will there be any issue installing as the Mobile tech has to use larger screws than originals as the originals were also ripped out and twisted.

Any one having to replace a mirror before and is there anything I need to be aware of. 20230702_165225.jpg

Doubtful a Class C would have mirror like a Class A. Longer or bigger screws should be fine.

On my previous coach, (Vegas) I had used 2 longer screws to remount the passenger mirror with about an inch of plexiglass. The tapered front sidewall made it hard to see much around the awning brackets. Got those screws at the local hardware store, the longest they carried.

Yes Pete... The dealer acquired it and I go for install tomorrow.

When the OP ripped it off the ACE the original screws were mangled so the Mobile Tech used a fatter screw to secure the damaged mirror for the trip home...the arm is secure but the mirror twists in the wind as you drive on.

There's allen set screws in the base to tighten and stop that.

Murphys Law

Dealer installed new mirror and camera does not get a video signal BUT the damaged camera still provides a signal....thus the ACE wiring is not the issue.

So the new mirror goes back to Valtec and another new one is to be sent with a 3 week back order delay.

Thus we continue to drive 1 eyed blind!

General RV has it now in Ocala. Also have a bathroom warranty claim so they will include the mirror work and some scratches needing repair.

Over...Under..1 month!

Thor mounted the mirrors on our class a with wood screws, a block of wood was embedded into the fiberglass, on my last trip to Florida the rt mirror was floppy around when the wood screws pulled loose, I ended up removing the wood screws and drilling the holes up to 5/16 and used stainless bolts and self locking nuts, guess you were lucky the screws pulled out without ripping the fiberglass

Lost passenger side mirror class A. Wyoming wind gusts pull door our hand and hit mirror. Pricey parts and repair. Dealer repair did not correctly re-attach wires in the external mechanism so had intermittent camera problems. Took to another RV repair facility…. They pulled out their test controller and isolated the problem as a wiring not a controller issue. Fixed and all worked well. Last time in initial facility.

Had numerous quality control issues from first repair facility. I’ll let you speculate on who that was.

Hope your final repair goes as well. It’s hard to drive RVs without side camera and limited use of rear view mirror. Did repair the broken mirror glass with clear wide tape to get us thru the trip.

Finally got our ACE back today from General RV, 8 weeks to the day.

Installed new passenger mirror with camera, new headlight bezel and minor body work to right front for surface gouges with new decal.

Took 7 weeks so they claim for the decal to be supplied.

Just glad OP also had Progressive to pay the 4250 repair bill.20230912_155628.jpg20230912_155632.jpg

I know this is an old thread, just blowing off steam……Went to check on my RV this afternoon at the storage facility and found that somebody had knocked off the passenger side mirror.🙄 Looks like mine is a velvac like yours. Guess I need to locate a part number. Looks just like yours.

Man! That s**ks! Can you file a claim with the storage facility?

Yeah, after I posted, I had sent a voicemail to the food truck guy that was next to me and he just called me back and owned up to it. He’s gonna help me fix it. Just glad there’s some honest people in the world.

Some pics when I checked on it today. Only been a few days since I was there.

This project just got kicked up to the top of the list.

I assume the bolts went with the mirror? What's access look like on the inside? You may need to do some structural repair before bolting a mirror back on.

Yeah, bolts came out with it but looks like no damage structurally. I will check if there is any access from inside but from what I recall there is not. I could put in anchors of some type an reattach it. I probably need a new mirror, looks like some plastic bits got crunched that the mirror attaches to. I'll investigate that today.

If I can still use the arm, found a replacement mirror just in case its not repairable.

Pretty sure this is the one from info gather at velvac,

Replacement Head and Glass Kit, Heated Remote Flat Glass, Manual Convex Glass, Chrome, Right Side | Velvac

a little cheaper here.

Found another one. 719914 Velvac Rv Motorhome Chrome Passenger Mirror with Camera

and ebay has one. so choices.

I put the mirror in the cart on ebay and went to double check the camera connectors, after 30 minutes the seller gave me a discount so total was $318 for the mirror part plus tax and $25 to ship. Arm looks ok. Now to figure out how to reattach the arm to the side since these bolts were ripped out and no longer of use.
