When I purchased my Thor Chateau 22E, I received two sets of keys, two chasis door key, two purple entry door keys, two grey compartment keys. But only one remote door/passenger key.

So I paid extra $120 and shipping cost for another remote key.

I also want to purchase one set of spare keys. But Thor told me to go to Chevy dealer for the chasis door key. Went to the Chevy dealer and they told me to bring my RV over to customize the key.

I also ordered the two Thor keys, one purple for the entry door, another grey for the compartment. Thor mailed me four grey keys, no purple key. When I ask Thor parts department, they told me they don't supply spare entry door keys, advise me to find online to duplicate the entry door key, or on Amazon. But they refunded the extra grey keys they sent over.

Such is Thor's lousy irresponsible management service.

If you have made the duplicate key before, please share with me how you did it, the vendor you dealt with. I don't want to fall in the hands of the scammers. Thanks in advance.

Even if your key has an RFID starter interlock, a locksmith can order a key and has the software to program your cars/coach's computer to accept the new keys RFID code. I just did such for my 2009 VW Jetta. The dealer wanted $800 for new two keys. A locksmith did it all while I waited for $244.

I recently had several "gray and purple" keys duplicated at our local ACE Hardware Store. They had the key blanks in stock and they all work well.

Thanks for the advice. I kept the grey key, find a local locksmith duplicated the purple key, cost me $8 a key.

As far as gas cap key, the locksmith told me they are all the same, go get another gas cap with the key and it should work. That defeats the whole purpose of having a key.

Local locksmiths, i keep multiple sets of keys, a complete set near the propane tank, the FORD ignition key near the steering wheel, and a few in my bag. Another set with the originals and hood key inside a cabinet in the RV.

i am petrified of the idea of losing the keys and being stranded somewhere downline. I keep a set in my bag tether to a clip... for some reason, i still misplace em.

You can buy a bag of keys...

The original keys have a code number on the key. You can order "Global Link" keys from a variety of sources online that provide good quality keys. I bought mine from RVShop.com in Fort Mohave, Arizona.

Yes, I successfully bought a bag of purple entry and grey compartment keys from Amazon. The search suggested above "Global Link" or "Lippert" and the number stamped on the key. A locksmith may be able to do it but these factory keys all work perfectly.

and yes, it is a little scary that you can buy keys by the sack-full
