thor Vegas 25.2 questions

frameless windows

By the way, the new type of frameless windows, do they swing on a hinge or do they slide also like the older models?

Another thing I'm noticing. No matter how or where I search, all the units for sale at dealers have 3 tv's. In our case, we only need one in the living area and even then very rarely. Does everyone out there need that many television sets in such a small coach. The basic unit from the company comes with just one and that is fine... now try and find such a beast. That's a $1000.00 off just there for something I don't need. I can see a few fully loaded but every single one.
I know I could order a new unit with what I want but I was planning to get one used. Oh well...
 
Ours only has 2 TVs. We didn't need the exterior TV. In fact the dealer had one on the lot exactly the way we wanted it configured (no exterior TV, no oven, fast lane outside colors).

You lucky duck! I'm telling you I have been looking all over the internet out of curiosity and could not find a single one without 3. I'm like you at the very least not the outside one.

We are presently in Pirateland SC. There is a Camping World here that has one or 2 on the lot. We will try and go and have a look later this week. It is not a 25.2 but it will give us a good idea of the dimensions, general feel and other details.

Hi I ran in to a couple in a camp site in Mertle beach. a couple of weeks ago. They had a 24.1 with the jacks installed. I asked them about them. They said it really makes a big difference. The jacks and the install cost them $4800 at camping world. Hope this helps.

We have jack on our Hurricane and it does make a huge difference for a good qwick set up on uneven sites.

Yikes! I forgot how expensive it was. The motorhome we purchased allready had some, how quickly we forget. I still think its worth the expense. If I could find a unit with less options (like 3 tv's :confused:) it will help make up some of the difference.

Now a battery question

Hi All,

it says that the unit comes with 1 (one) house battery and you can get a second as an option. I'm guessing these are 12 volts batts. is there room for 2 larger 6 volts batts like the trojan 105's? If I read correctly in another post the batts are under the steps. Is that correct?
We do a lot of boondocking and was wondering if we could do the same in the Vegas? We have (4) 6 volts trojans 125's in our Hurricane.

Yes the house battery(ies) are in the step and there is room for two 12Vs (obviously since its an option). Its the same standard RV step that you see in all Class C RVs so if they fit two 6V's then they'd likely fit.

When I go and visit a dealer I'll make sure to bring my measuring tape.
We are in SC for another week but I found online a dealer near where I live that has a couple of 25.2's. :thumb:

another window question?

Are the windows single pane or are they double for colder wx. I never saw anything in the option list for winter ops except the heat pads for the water tanks.
I noticed some of you were recently in cold weather, any issues with sweating and heat loss?

We camped in our 24.1 last April(2014). The windows are single pane: the furnace ran constantly all weekend. I think we burned through an entire tank of propane that weekend. The temps were around freezing for the whole weekend.

This wasn't much different from our old 5th wheel.

So much for newer coaches. Our Hurricane 2006 is the same and we make due by putting aluminium bubble wrap insulation in the bedroom windows for the night. It helps.We keep the thermostat around 60/65 and use a 12v dc heat pad for the mattress. Nice and cozy. the electronic thermostat kicks it back up around 6:30 or 7:00am to make easier to get up out of bed in the morning. Maybe this same set up will work in the Vegas.

One of the things I noticed when looking at the Challengers is that Thor seems to install the dual pane windows on coaches that are primarily sold in the deep south or southwestern parts of the US. There seems to be more of a demand for the dual pane windows in hotter climates rather than the colder climates.

With my prior coach I noticed the cold walls more than the cold windows. Also, when I travel in cold weather I have an electric heater that goes with me. I use the heater during the day and the RV furnace set low at night.
