We are on our 4th set of tires. We replaced our wheels with T04's rated at 3750. We had issues with tire wear and suspension issues. We had only 9600 miles on a set of goodyear G614s when we had to replace them due to steel belt sticking out of inside tread on all 4 tires. We replaced all suspension and axels with MorRyde 8K axels and IS Type suspension. We replaced the goodyear with H rated Hercules tires. Jury still out on performance of the tires but we have had no issues thusfar.

I had the High Spec wheels on our previous SOB & had 2 of crack, bought 4 steel wheels that looked exactly like the aluminum & sold all 4 aluminum as scrap.

Forgot to mention if you're having sever tire wear it's much cheaper to have axles aligned than replaced, cost me $250 to align both axles & have 20-25k on tires & still plenty of tread.

I thought of doing the same with mine. When looking at used Newmar Mountain and Kountry Aire they always had steel rims with chrome inserts.

How can I tell if my wheels will support the G614 tires?

If your wheel model is Sendel T03s it will not support G614s. Find out what make/model your wheels are and research the manufacture specs. My 2012 36FL came with Sendel T03s and they were rated for 3580 lbs per wheel. The sendel T04s are rated at 3750 lbs per wheel which matches the Goodyear gs614 tire weight rating

Look on the backside of your wheel and you will see the load ratings of your wheel. They are likely at the base of where the spoke section meets the main body of the rim. I doubt if your wheels are rated for the G tires. That will add about $450 to $480 for new wheels in addition to the probably $360 per tire for the Goodyear G's.

Oops and do not forget the spare.

Again, I'll suggest that if you have to upgrade your present wheels before going to the G614, just skip right over them and move up to the 17.5 wheels with the GY 114 "H" rated tires and put 99% of tire problems behind you. The 114s are a Commercial Trailer Tire and can generally be purchased at more places than the 614s.

If I recall when purchasing both wheels and tires these aren't that much more expensive than the G114 setup?

I agree...... I would also look at the steel wheels. I'm not a big fan of aluminum wheels on a trailer.

Steel wheels are definitely more practical. They don't crack and can be beat back into shape if need be. However they are not pretty compared to AL options.

With the size of these trailers, it's pretty easy to "kiss" a curb. The steel wheels handle the abuse much better. The aluminum wheels are lighter weight and look nicer when they're new but they're fragile.

Tredit Tire in Grand Prairie, TX was very helpful and got me the tires and wheels reasonably. Waiting on weather to break where I can switch them out.

Happy Camper,What wheel/tires did you order; and what size?


We live less than 100 mi from Grand Prairie. I think we've decided (about 99% sure) that we're going with Treadit 17.5 aluminum rims and Goodyear 114s.

We went with the T02 wheels (very low maintenance and nice appearance) and the Goodyear 114s as well. They had to order them, but took less than 3 weeks to have them in. They were mounted and aired ready to go. They were not balanced, but I have talked to numerous sources and found that it is a mere personal choice.

Do you balance the tires on your TV?? If so, why not the RV too?

I've got the beads in mine which balances them.

You can really beat up a trailer if they aren't balanced, and the heavier the tire, the worse it can be.
