Went camping last weekend and the toilet worked fine. Got to our campsite for this weekend’s trip and when you step on the lever, water only comes out in a trickle and then stops. Any ideas on what happened between last weekend and this?

Sink and shower work ok?

Any cut off behind toilet?

All other water faucets and the shower work fine. I don’t see a cutoff valve behind the toilet. Didn’t touch anything back there last weekend either.

When you got off the potentially problematic shore water for a few moments to test if your toilet worked on your pump water...what happens?

When it last worked were you using city water of the water pump?
Answer Duck's question to help narrow the issue.

Possible issues may be:
Crap in the hose bibb/hose got flushed into the toilet holes.
A hose in the RV got kinked.
The flush valve is broken.

24F owner here. Even with full hookups I never use the campground water supply... at least not DIRECTLY. Campground water pressure is ALL over the place, and can vary hour to hour.

If you want consistent water pressure, just fill your 40 gallon freshwater tank - skip hooking up to your city connection and use your internal water pump. Consistent pressure every time.

So... until you eliminate the city water pressure question/mystery, you're only guessing.

Please try this suggestion... if your problem persists we'll have at least eliminated the campground water pressure as the source.

Concur to check toilet with onboard water tanks pump pressure. If still no joy, WAG would be broken flush valve. But OP you got to go through a bit of self-diagnostics. No magic repair bullet from us forum gurus

Do you use a pressure regulator?
Absolutely essential if using city water of unknown or fluctuating pressure. If you're thinking what I am, is it possible the OP is using a defective or mal-adjusted regulator? Or it may be that the campground water pressure is very low... lower than the setpoint of the regulator.

But again, switching to the onboard freshwater tank and internal pump will eliminate all of that.

Everyone seems to be focused on the water supply but you say everything else, sinks, shower, etc. are working. If that is the case I would be focused on the mechanical mechanism that is part of the toilet. Make sure the travel of the foot pedal is sufficient and check that the ball is moving when you depress the pedal.

Yes we were on city water last time (same campground).
No water in my fresh water tank, won’t be able to do the test until home. Nevertheless, we have hot water and water pressure for hot faucets, but no cold water. It only comes out in a trickle at all faucets and the toilet. Checked the connections under the dinette seat where the back of the tankless heater is but didn’t see any issues. I’ll check the tank outside today and anywhere else there may be an issue that I can think of anyway.

It’s something to do with the cold water. No water pressure when running cold anywhere.

Soooo, we get "the rest of the story" (Paul Harvey reference for you youngsters).
And it's not a toilet problem after all.

So now my question is: Why can't you use your hose at the campground to put water in the FW tank and try using the pump????

When i was young and learning about communication I wanted to be a cross between young phil donohue and paul harvey.

I am instead, a Wally George and Joe Pyne fistfight.

Mine has the lever that 'pumps' water into the bowl, but I've seen the one you have in the brochures, with the foot pedal. I'm wondering if they FUNCTION the same, as mine has a diaphragm that pushes/pumps the water into the bowl with each pulling of the lever.... This is not hooked up the the pressurized system that I can determine. It generally takes three pulls of that lever (pumps) to put enough water in the bowl. If yours does function like mine, it may need water in the holding tank, and/or have a defective rubber diaphragm and the diaphragm needs to be replaced. Granted, this is just a wild guess.

Not Applicable - and come to find out it's not a toilet problem, but a cold water problem.
