Tongue Weight and Fresh water tank

Does anyone know if Crossroads designs their trailers to be towed with fresh water tanks full or empty. Question is twofold. First is for tongue weight, and secondly as seen in other posts - structural integrity. I am experiencing a bit of porpoising and am trying different solutions to resolve. Don't have access to large scales for weight calculations.

I would think they put the tanks on so a person can use them. Not everybody camps where there is a water hookup. I travel with a full tank of water.

As far as porpoising, that could be caused by the weight distributing hitch not being set correctly, or, not having enough tow vehicle to handle the trailer.

If you post the make, model, and year of your trailer in your sig. along with your tow vehicle, people will be able to help,and answer your questions better without having to ask for that info.

When I camp at race tracks, which usually don't have hookups, I carry a full tank of water from home.

We always carry a full tank then when we get home drain what is left and refill before the next trip. Also the same with the hot water heater. Started this years ago when the state parks if they had water was something to be desired. And some of our secret camping spots do not have water.

We also carry full tanks as you can never predict the unexpected conditions that may happen... We do that not to compromise on our own convenience and comfort.

Tow with them empty

I dont know how big your fresh water tank is, but towing with it full (30 to 50gal) adds anywhere from 250 to 400+lbs. to your towing weight. Unless you know you're going to be dry camping why drag all that extra weight around. Sounds to me either your hitch isn't set up properly or your shocks need attention. I don't boondock so my water comes from the hydrant in the campground through a filter into the fresh water inlet, fresh water all the time and more weight carrying capacity for all the stuff my wife wants to bring camping
