I've notice one of the Facebook groups - RVing to Alaska (the Original) Driven by The Milepost - is taking over the Milepost. I think that's a good thing. They can crowd source the updates.
Although I agree the Milepost is essential, it's not nearly as up to date as it used to be when they travelled the highways every year to sell advertising. Now, that's done electronically and there are more errors. Not enough to not buy it. But enough to not trust it 100% either.
A tip my wife picked up. Get it coil bound. She took ours to Staples and it wasn't expensive - maybe $10.00. It lays flat; she can leave it open to the page where we are; and seems to not wear nearly as quickly. We'll be on year 4 of our current Milepost with little wear. We buy a new one every 5 years for the past 35 years of travelling up and down that long road.
A business tip for a techie: Create an app that uses the GPS location and reads the Milepost information for that location.
