Hi, I’m new to the forum and we just purchased a new Freedom Traveler. As we were driving home from the dealership, every cabinet door opened up. It seems like the magnets are too weak to keep them closed. Has this happened to anyone else? It seems like my only option is to replace the current magnets with newer, stronger ones. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello & welcome.

Are the magnet mounts adjustable? Often they are attached through slotted holes. Loosening the screws allows you to move the magnets so they contact the steel plate more securely. But if the magnets are just too weak then stronger (larger) magnets will be needed.

What year is your FT? And is it new? Or new to you?

We have a 2016 ACE (the line the FT was modeled after) ane we don't have a single cabinet door held closed by a magnet

It’s a new 2024. I thought it was weird, my previous coach used a different locking system.

IMO nothing's better than an old fashioned friction catch. Combine that with common sense in loading/securing cabinet contents and you'll spend much less time picking up stuff off the floor.

We put baby locks that require a magnet to release and when you get where your going you push a button so they don’t lock and on upper cabinets where it’s a double door I used a small bungee to clip them together
