Has anyone installed a TV in the bedroom alcove, would like advice on how to properly attach the TV mount to this alcove.

My crystal ball is too cloudy to see your Year/Make/Model RV to be able to reply with any useful information.

If you've ever mounted a 30# object in a sticks n bricks (screws into wooden studs)... there's your dinner.

Stud sensor; drill/bits; appropriate wood screws and screwdriver.

I understand installed to a typical wall, not sure if there are tricks with these thin walls?

We can give you very specifics if you give us even a notion.

Do you own an rv or are you speculating?
Help us help you.

If we ask just the simplest most basic question and you respond without the answer, how should we proceed?

Yes, we own it. Simple question, have you installed a TV in the built in alcove , designed for a TV. Thor was unable to help with the question: are there specific backers built-in, like a home, that need to be attached to?

1000 youtube videos will help you with no questions asked.
#3 was a direct and concise answer requiring only a past experience as your guide.

And we still don't know what RV or alcove you are talking about.

Op,
To help us answer in a manner that will help the most;
What do/did you do as profession?
This will allow us to use specific terms and nomenclature if appropriate.
I want to tell you of
Backstrap
but I don't know if I need to explain it.

Does this resemble anything you have in mind? I mounted this Best Buy 32" Fire TV in our bedroom - using the basic tools I described above. I think I did this last year... it's not going anywhere.

Used a basic mount bracket... nothing fancy like a swing arm was needed. All parts were basic homeowner TV mounting stuff and an "on sale for $99" TV.

We love it.

Oh... and note the cheapo DVD player on the corner shelf... necessary add-on for remote boondocking!

I want to change our mount where we can move rotate the screen more towards the bed..but the current mount is flush and tv does not move. Need to investigate how to change & secure if it telescopes?

It secures closed with magnets or velcro wraps dependent on brand.

Add enough of a plywood square to cover two studs. Three spaced screws per stud.
Mount the mount anywhere on that square.
Use plywood instead of board due to the stranding. A board might crack during rv jostling.

Done.

I lied... a little. Ours actually tilts up an down, and telescopes out from the wall maybe a foot... which allows it to be rotated somewhat toward the front of the RV. But there's nowhere to sit to see it! So... it's purpose is exclusively a bedroom TV.

I'll try to post a pic tomorrow showing how much it tilts/rotates etc. I'm thinking it's about 45°.

The cool thing is it doesn't need a positive latch to hold it in place while traveling. It's just pushed back against the wall and there's plenty enough friction in the hinge areas to keep it in place.

Great. What mount brand is it?

Here ya go... Just used large hex head lag screws into existing framing. If you need more articulation get a mount with two joints to accordion out further. All I need is enough room to get behind the TV comfortably to connect cables, etc.

Also even though the TV is an integrated Fire TV, we still use a Fire Stick with all the apps installed. The TV's Fire interface is somewhat clunky/frustrating... probably reflecting it's cheap price. BUT... the picture and sound are perfectly acceptable!

*** my area may not be deep enought for large hex lags.
Will check. I have not seen how thor got it on. Can barely get to usb ports :). Will deep dive..Scuba ***

*** was wondering about fire TV. Costs are low but pro Samsung. Heard interface was bad. I did a 2 mount in a cabin we owned. Good reminder. Telescopes further ***

Appreciate

Lookie here, Thor makes a gob of different rv’s. We have no idea which one you have unless you tell us. In the alcove. WTF does that mean. Most rv manufacturers put a sticker on the wall telling you this area is for a tv mount as it is reinforced. If you want to put one somewhere else, put it there. Hopefully it’ll be near an AC receptacle. Maybe it won’t tear the wall down when you go over a bump. But if you really want our assistance, please provide the info asked for by others. Year, make & model of your coach. A picture of the “alcove” would help as well.

Play nice :)
