It’s not often that I RV in cold weather that requires I use the RV’s heating system, just several days a year. Most often I use an electric spaced heater to get the chill out, and not on while sleeping. But when I do use the system, I find the thermostat not controlling the heat as set. For example, last night I set the thermostat a little below the 70 mark, approximately at 68, but the temperature in bedroom area was anywhere between 58 and 62. The heat came on, brought the temp up a few degrees, then went off for awhile before coming back on an hour or so later, when room temp was back down to 58-62. Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone switched out the thermostat?

Thank you for the information. When installing this thermostat, will it match-up to the spot the present thermostat occupies? The walls are so thin, I hate to turn them into a pin cushion with new holes. Also is it difficult to install? I am far from being called a handy person.

thermo uses the same holes if I recall
instructions will match-up the wires for you
very ez, plug and play.

Same mounting holes and (almost certainly) identical wiring - color matched. Very easy upgrade I’ve done several now. Maybe the current environment has resulted in higher prices but it seems to me the last one I bought was under $50! Comes in black too.

One of the first things I changed!! You won’t be sorry. As said earlier color match to the old. Snap a pic of the old wire connections and just match them up.

I got one last week for $77. Installed it this morning. Took about fifteen minutes. Two suggestions:
  1. Take a few pictures of all the wiring connections of the OLD thermostat before starting
  2. Disconnect old 'stat ONE WIRE AT A TIME and connect the new 'stat using the same wire color as the old one

You can do the same with a $24.00 Honeywell from HD. Just did mine this summer. Youtube is your friend. I used the programmable to get the backlight. This is the second one I have done.

Finally getting around to installing this thermostat. Found a grey wire that does not match-up. Called Honeywell support, and was told that the grey was for low fan speed and the green is for high fan speed, and I could only use one. What did you do? Is there a big difference?

Use high fan speed unless you want to install a separate speed selector switch with a SPDT switch.
