Those who bought a Vegas or Axis New, do you wish you bought it used and let someone else find and fix any issues it had from the manufacture? I've seen comments about build quality and I'm concerned.

I bought my 2024 Axis 24.1 in August 2023, so I'm on my 11 month of ownership. Not too many problems, here is the list:

Passenger window leaked rain water after one month. It was replaced under warranty after about two months and three visits to the dealer for testing and replacement. Luckily my dealer is 15 minute drive from my house. I recommend buying locally, so your purchase dealer is your service dealer. You get better service I think.

Couch wireless phone charger went out. At dealer currently getting checked out under warranty.

Overhead cab bunk slide was removed to replace the passenger window and they didn't get it back in correctly so it isn't working right. It is at dealer getting worked on now under warranty.

BMPRO control panel stopped working, so they replaced that once and then it went out again but I was able to figure out, it needed software updating and it has worked great ever since 6 months ago. Also got the APP loaded on my phone and I-PAAD so I have backup control.

Outdoor shower has no pressure or flow, so it is being looked at now under warranty.

One dash AC vents broke so they are replacing it under warranty now.

I've had one cross country trip from San Diego to Nashville and back and several local SoCal trips in it and I have 7600 miles on it.

I think it has been fairly trouble free so far, knock on wood.

I've really enjoyed have a new MH and not worrying about other peoples problems.

The only thing with a new MH is you have to invest so much on all your gear to go camping if it is your first camper, which it is for us, but it was fun picking out all the gear on Amazon and getting it to my wife's surprise. My wife said "Should the MH have come with all that stuff" lol.

I bought our 2021 Axis new in early 2021. I am a retired engineer and DIYer. I conducted a pretty thorough PDI before closing on it and didn’t find anything significant. But after living with it for a month or so I found several, some totally dumb, installation errors. None were worth taking back to the dealer and over a 2-3 month period, I solved them all myself. Not always the way Thor intended and most better than Thor would have done.

So…., if you buy a used one from someone like me, you get a pretty good coach where everything works. But if you buy one from someone who took it back to the dealer and waited weeks and months to get it fixed, I rather doubt you will get a problem free coach since the dealer is likely to make a quick fix and cover up a problem rather than making a permanent fix.

So far on our new 2024 Vegas 26.1 we have only had a few issues.

Weak water pump replaced.
Bedroom drawer fixed (we didn’t even know it wasn’t working right).
No heat in bathroom and very low flow in bedroom. Dealer says ducts under the shower have come loose (or were never connected properly). Requires removing shower pan. They will fix the shower wall panel that is loose.
Also the heater distribution box is bent and leaks air. We have really toasty silverware.
Refrigerator door safety latch is too long and allows door to open too much. I installed a baby latch.

My final gripe is that they denied the rust on the bumper. We bought in March. How could it have rusted in such a short time? I didn’t catch it on pdi. Live and learn.

So far, this new rig has far fewer problems than the previous used rig.

Heading out tomorrow for 5 weeks. We’ll see if anything else crops up.

2018 Axis owner. Purchased new at the time. Haven't had too many issues and only one that was during the warrety period - slight, occasioanal water leak along the slide rail after a strong rain. Had it in the shop twice, but since it was intermitent, not easy to find. We just kept dinking with it/spraying it with a hose. Eventually found a very small area where the caulking hadn't been done completely. Recaulked it ourselves. No further problem.

Just this year, while we were on the road, we had a problem with the refrigerator occasionally not running. After a few DIY checks (fuses, connections, etc) we called a mobile tech. Fortuantely the guy had been a helicopter mechanic in the army and knew his electrical systems. Turns out Thor had put a wire in a harness connector that was of an incorrect size for the wire. After 5 years it was finally vibrating out at random moments. Tech corrected the issue with a properly sized harness and wire connection. Presto. cold 'fridge and no further problem.

Overall we are quite happy with our Axis and love the general layourt We've made a few mods to suit our tastes, but the basis layout is well thought out and we've enjoyed the rig much more than we've cursed at it.:thumb:

Back from the 5 week 2 day 2500 mile vacation and we could have gone longer. We love the new 26.1 floor plan with the walk around queen bed. Has more storage than our 2018 25.3. Have a longer warranty list but pretty minor stuff like adjusting doors and drawers. On the road Ford adjusted the exhaust hangers so the exhaust would not bang against the chassis. Les Schwab fixed the flat tire for free (a screw made a slow leak). Looking forward to our next trip in October and would definitely buy it again.
