Water Heater Will Not Shut Off

I have a 2022 Four Winds 28A with a propane only water heater. It will not shut off and the temp goes beyond 150 degrees F and I shut it off manually. I have changed the thermostats and still will not shut off at 140 degrees F (approximately). The old thermostat was not touching the tank (spring was gone) so I changed it out (60 degree C thermostat). So could it be the control board? I checked the fuse and it is good so I'm at a lose on what to do next to fix this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What temp does it get up to before you shut if off manually? I doubt the little T-stats are very accurate.

Add some thermal paste between the T-stat and the tank as well. It'll make it a lot more consistent.

Pull one of the wires from your 60C T-Stat and see if the heater turns off. If it doesn't I'd suspect a control board.

There's also a second safety T-stat that's set very high that should open if it goes super high, to save your tank pressure valve. Maybe pull a wire from that and see what happens.

I ordered thermal paste, hopefully that will fix the issue. I did pull on of the leads from the TStat and the heater shutdown immediately so I think that may eliminate the control board.
Stay tuned to see if the thermal paste is the solution! Thanks for the help.

If it’s a tankless water heater we had that happen when there wasn’t enough water pressure.

Hear ya

Our 28A has way too hot water - we run the electric for 20 minutes and then shut it off and it stays hot for a long time. Not good but we manage.
