Water leak

Well we had our first water leak and we have only been in it 2 weeks. I notice water dripping from under the right side just before the storage door out side. After long investiagation it was coming from the washer hoses. There was no way to get to the hose to see it so I had to cut an axses pannle to remove it. I was able to reach in and tighten the hot water hose that was leaking ever sense we first hooked up the water. I had to cut a 18'' slit in my under pinning to let all the water out. Luck I had a good strong fan and its been in the 80s so all the water was dryed up today. But im not very happy with this issue on my brand new Redwood.

We've opted out on the washer/dryer idea... We'd give up a lot of storage space for an appliance which doesn't have much capacity and, at least in the RWs, is prone to crimped, leaking hoses. We'll put the cats' litter box there instead - that gets used multiple times, every day! Hopefully, that won't leak!

Come to think of it, I may just turn off the water when we leave the unit for the day ... No water, no leaks!

Hate to hear of your water leak...
pretty scary to see water running out of the undercarriage... like, why didn't our fridge water line freeze OUTSIDE the rv instead of behind the kitchen drawer and fridge

But we too, not being full timers, passed on the w/d and so the W/D closet is now our HUGE bath/linen closet...
Towels, washcloths, blankets, etc...
I'm amazed every day how my wife can fill up a closet !!!

this 38gk has 3 times the inside storage our last 5er had... although less outside storage?
and given it's 5 foot longer? not sure how that happens

Now that you've had a leak you'll realize that it's a good habit to get into, shutting the water off whenever you leave the coach. I, from experience, have also purchased inexpensive battery operated water alarms and place one under each sink and on the floor next to the toilet. An alarm will then sound when water is detected. Already let us know of a water leak under the kitchen sink.

You might still have the hoses even if you didn't get the washer. Its still worth a check.

Yep, I do have the hoses but since we don't have the appliance I'll shut off the supply (install a new shutoff or cap?) before it goes into the coach. One less place to loosen up and leak.

That's why I always carry pex tools with me.

Probably a good investment for me as well ... Gotta fill up that utility body with something besides socket wrenches and pliers!

That, and the unused hoses can hold stagnant water that can start to smell. Sounds like you have the right plan.

Thanks for your input. I should have said we don't have the washer in there. We wanted that space also. I like the idea of installing a cut off to them. I did look in there and see that it can be done easy. I didn't like cutting a hole in the wall to get to it but didn't see any other way around it.
