Water problems

Well, I think the service guys screwed up! My trailer was winterized when I took it to the factory for service around the 1st week of December. Now I'm having a **** of a time getting it to suck water from the fresh water tank.

The factory sent me a new pump because we figured that was the problem but the new pump doesn't do any better. The only thing I can figure is that when they fixed the siphon problem they kinked a line coming from the tank. Everything is ok with the city water hook up so it has to be the pump or below. I've tried it with the tank 1/3 full and full.

I'm leaving on a 2 week business trip on Thursday so I'm not real happy at this point, but I'll deal with it.

Maybe there are some more things to check. I don't recall what you have checked so far.

Were you able to feel the suction from the pump inlet before you hooked it up? Look at the city water inlet to be sure that the back flow valve is seated correctly. Any chance the pump is filling the water heater and has not yet topped off? I don't have our RW yet (we get it this Thursday, Yahoo!!!) so I don't know for sure if it has a diverter valve to pull anti-freeze in. If it does is it turned to the wrong way? If it has one, can you pull water through it to prime the pump. I have had to do that in the past on our Roadtrek. When they installed the anti-siphon did they loosen any connections? Check each one you can reach to be sure it is not drawing air.

Hope you can find it soon. In my case it is usually something minor that I have overlooked. Good luck.

Check for a kinked hose. The same thing happened to me and i found a hose kinked.

Sorry to hear about your problem. The pump should prime itself. You may try the spare pump with a battery and bucket of water. If the pump is good then the problem has to be in the plumbing. Check the hearter bypass and make sure the fittings you can see are not leaking. Just my 2 cents. When all else fails have a JD!!

I resolved the problem.....Yes Don I fixed it myself.....Last fall after I winterized the unit I took it to the factory and one of the things they fixed was the siphon problem that some of us have been having. Apparently, they did some re-plumbing around the pump. Since the unit was winterized they didn't test their fittings under pressure (I sure wish they had).

After taking the under belly down and looking for kinked hoses I noticed that the water was draining out of the sight glass. I started moving the pex pipe and realized the the fittings were loose. This allowed the pump to suck air, so I cut some new lines and put new clamps on the pipe. I also used Teflon tape on all screw fittings.

After scratching my head for for a few days....the problem was right in front of me. I'm now educated on the plumbing of RV's.......time for a drink

The JD will taste real good now that your issue is resolved. Glad it all worked out OK. I had my siphon problem fixed at Lazydays in Tucson. They did a great job and now I still have the factory warranty on that portion of my rig!!
