Water pump leaking, what's next?

Well, when I brought my unit home last May, I found that it had 3 15" wheels and 1 14" wheel on it. CW corrected that for me. Then last month found the rear outlets were tripping the GFI. Found the pull box located under the slide full of water. Definately not an outdoor or water tight box. I fixed this myself. Now the water pump is leaking into the unit. Had to remove the table from the floor and wall to access the pump to find out that the pump is leaking from the head. I've read that the Artis pumps used by CR are chinese and have been a problem for a long time. Will replace it with another brand. Any suggestions for replacement? I do this myself, because warranty work would end my 2015 camping season. I need it for deer season.

Anyone else having problems with the Artis pumps?

What's next?

Mine leaded from the same spot after 3 weeks . Replaced under warranty with a Flo Jet. installed myself for same reason.

Mine leaked the first weekend we used it. Noticed water dripping under trailer, and traced it to the pump which would spray every time it was turn on. the dealer replaced it under warranty with a different brand. I'll have to get back to you what brand it is.

We were lucky the water leaked down to the under belly and out, and not into our living area.

Mine also leaked after a short while, came home to wet floor. Found the pump under the island and retightened the screws, that was 3 years ago and no problems since...

I read the horror stories about the Artis on this forum shortly after I got my camper. I replaced mine with a ShurFlo and mounted the Artis to a small board and attached a wire to it with a cigarette lighter plug and a couple of lengths of clear vinyl hose. Now, when we dry camp at a race track without water hookups and we need more water, I can use it to transfer water from jugs to the camper instead of holding the heavy jugs up and pouring the water through a funnel.

Well after 2 hours of removing the cabinet, I got the pump out. It has 2 tattle-tale holes under the pump that water was coming from while running. They are there to indicate a blown diaphram. Removed pump head to verify. Yes, a blown diaphram. Going to CW in the morning for another brand. Less than 1 year old. Not worth leaving my unit at CW for warranty work for who knows how long. Need to dry camp next week for deer hunting. Hopefully they have what Im looking for.

I'd take pics, document it, and send bill in for warranty payment to Crossroads.

Being a PE, my rates can be in excess of $300 an hour. But I will make my point about using cheap material. It cost less in increase quality in the big picture. After looking at these Artis pumps closely, I have determined that most, if not all will fail at some point. Especially if you actually use them.

Installed a Flojet that I picked up at CW this morning. $110. Night and day! What an improvement in noise and construction. I will also note how cheap the cabinetry is. Especially the one were the pump is housed.
