Water Pump Question

I own a 2023 Thor Tellaro 20L. After my water pump pressurizes the system the pump keeps turning on for about a second at a time. I'm assuming that I must have a small air leak in the system that may be corrected by tightening all of the fittings that I can. Does this sound reasonable or am I'm I missing something? The only time that this is a real problem is at night when we are trying to sleep so I just turn the power off then.

Water leak
Pump leaking back internally
Maybe an air leak

Do you have an outdoor shower that may have a slightly open valve?

How often does this 1 second run occur?

Also check low point drain valves. My cold drain valve had debris stuck in it keeping it open enough to drip... giving similar symptoms.

There should be no air in system maybe go to each faucet and shower turn on till water comes out hot and cold. Is this a tankless system with a hot water return to tank maybe leaking

Thanks. I'll check that tomorrow. We're having a thunder storm right now.

No I don't have an outdoor shower. It will do the one second runs until I turn off the power.

It does it continuously until I turn off the power.
It's technically called "pump cycling"... meaning it turns on and runs maybe 10 -15 seconds until the pressure switch is satisfied. Then sits for maybe 5 minutes or how ever long it takes for the pressure to drop. Then this cycle repeats. The cycle time depends on your situation.

Basically the slower the pressure bleed (leak) the longer time between cycles.

So... I think the poster was asking how long between these cycles, which could give a hint about where to look.

Def. has a leak, either water/air or valve/drain/fitting somwhere.
Even a thump in the middle of the night means a leak.
I turn my pump off at night in my 20L,
I once had a Rialta and thought that night time 'thump' was just an RV thing- wrong! I actually had a cracked elbow behind a wall. Repaired and no more thump!

So do a thorough search in all compartments for water or a "hiss" from air leaking.
- Low point drains are suspect as well as mentioned by CH.
When i got our 20L, It was tight and had no leaks. Still good after 3 years too.
- Check toilet fitting and operation (gate seat/valve), shower, rear spray, faucets, etc.
- Open up the bed compartments and pull drawers out of the kitchen and rear wardrobe, to do a thorough search- put hands on fittings to feel any dampness.
- Water on floor is a giveaway. Also pop off the corner cover on driver's side bed and also sink blank on sink cabinet to get a better look at that plumbing.
Headrest (on bed base cabinets) panels too. Open the whole thing up - should do to get to know where everything is anyways.
-Also swivel fittings can leak if too tight- they need to be hand tight plus 1/4 turn. Too tight, and gasket gets deformed and will leak. These swivel fittings are used extensively in the Tellaro/ Sequence and other models. If in any doubt- de-pressureise and drain syatem, loosen swivel fittings, let sit for a day, then tighten as prescribed.
- No need for teflon tape anywhere.
I keep extra gaskets on hand for the swivel fittings.
- If the rig was not winterised properly, you could have a crack as well- common problem area is the rear spray under the rear wardrobe (behind drawers)
Many forget to get AF into that, and it freezes and cracks from the ice inside!
Good luck and let us know when you find the leak.

Also check that your toilet ball valve is completely closing after flushing. It could stick and let a little trickle of water flow into the toilet... you'll usually be able to see the water flowing.

Thanks for all of the ideas. I will begin a systematic check of all of my plumbing and post if I find the leak.

If it did it continuously it wouldn't be a 1 second run.

1 second run ==> Time between runs ==> 1 second run. What is the time between the 1 second runs?
When the pump turns off. It will start again for a short duration and then repeat with the run time getting shorter and the interval between runs getting longer.

It sounds like you need to adjust the pump pressure. There is a little screw on the pump housing. Turn it in 1/4 turn. If it gets worse, turn it out 1/2 turn until it stops cycling.

I don't have an outdoor shower but I do have a spray hose in my rear storage area. I checked it and it was okay.

Hope all went well Monday. Do you have a tankless system , not sure how they work but some have a valve in shower when you turn on hot water it cycles back to fresh water so you don’t waste water. If you have that check that hot water valve is closed and the valve to recirculate is closed
