Water Tank Leak Help

Hi everyone,

I recently got a 2000 Windsport Class A RV, and I’ve run into a bit of a problem. The freshwater tank is located at the far back of the RV, and on the right side, there’s a key that opens a small door providing access to the tank. I’m hesitant to pull it out because I’m worried I might accidentally disconnect something important.

The issue I’m dealing with is a leak that’s coming from the left side of the tank. I can see the tank from the bedroom through a cabinet door, and I’ve noticed that the corner of the floor in that area is slightly damp. The water is dripping down into the storage compartment beneath this section, not directly onto the RV’s floor, but it’s still a concern.

Unfortunately, I’m low on funds at the moment, so I’m trying to figure out how to address this myself. I’d really appreciate any advice on how to locate and fix the leak. I’m thinking about using Flex Seal once I pinpoint the source, but I’m not sure how to get to it safely. I’ve got some pictures as well if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or guidance!

24 years of plastic drying out and probably a crack or fitting has failed.
Need to find the exact spot- might have to pull the tank- is that possible?
There are materials you can patch it with, but the plastic may not be able to be repaired if it's all dried out.

Might have to replace the tank, and I would source out one from local plumbing supply or internet, that would fit and be better than a replacement from TMC. Make sure it hasn't sat out in the sun for years...

(If you wear glasses your whole life like me, then you know about plastic 'drying out')
Also you better make sure electrics and all other things are ok- I had a 2001 RV and you can have a lot wrong after that much time.
