What do you people use to transfer water from a 6 gal container to your rv water tank. Is there a 12 volt or electric pump available(not to costly),where to buy it or make it?thanks To old to hold it up and let it drain.

i wonder if you can cut thehoses on your water pump for your trailer and install the same plastic valves that crossroads uses. you can make your winterizing pick up line longer(put that in your 6 gal. jug)and cut the line leaving your water pump put a "t" with a plastic ball valve and attach a length of hose that will reach your outside water fill. i think that would be the cheapest.Edited by: spinella

As you are in Calgary you can go to Canadian tire, they have a 12 volt utility pump with garden hose connections in and out. It comes with approx 10 ft connectors for your battery. Watch the flyers they go onsale all the time. Good luck

Laurie, I have one of the pumps below and used it to transfer water from a 55 gal. drum into our old Airstream and it worked great. We owned some property that had a water well but it was not where we camped. I would go fill a plastic 55 gal. drum and come back and pump it into the tank on the trailer. We used it like that for 2 years.

We just pour it into our tank fill connection.On one container I made a extenion to the spout, but other than that ,just pour it from the jug.

I use a 12V Pony pump that I bought a Princess Auto. I have several 5 gallon collapsible jugs that I use to haul water to the trailer. I hook up the pump to the jugs and transfer water into the trailer tank.

We have a 5 gallon container with a spout that we just lift up and pour in the tank fill connection. Works great for us and nothing to mess with.

that is the easiest but he said he did'nt want to lift his water jug anymore.

I have a pony pump. Don't use it. It's loud, awkward, and expensive in Canada. The pump above goes on sale all the time for $9.99. Trust me, try this one first. It's Princess, if you don't like it, bring it back and spend a lot more on the pony pump. You won't want to though.

I use the one thatRuss-Carol posted from Harbor Freight, I like the stainless steel pump housing.



I modified mine by mounting it to a board. Then I drilled a hole in the handle and added a switch to it then wired in a plug end to it, a 110 plug end, make sure the large blade is positive. Then I went to my battery and added a female plug to the terminals, making sure the large blade was positive. Then just let it hang outside the battery box.



When I want to transfer water, I get an electrical cord (I usemy extra30 amp cord 30ft long fromWalmart with adapters that turn it into a regular electrical cord I use this becausethe pumpdraws alot of juice and I want to make sure the cord is a good size to handle it)plug both ends in one to thethe battery and the other into the pump. Make two hose ends that are both female and screw them to the pump with short 3ft pieces of hose. Put one in the trailer fill hole , the other in the 6 galjug and flip the switch and it is transfered in no time.
