Weight Limit on Roof

I'm a big guy (6'3" and 320 lbs). I already known I wont be using the attached ladder, but I was wondering about limits up on the actual roof?

Without passing any judgments...
If you don't feel as if the ladder will hold you: it's probably best to think the same about the roof.

I will pass on the manufacturers ladder cause it's easy enough to use my own.

Not quite so many options when on the roof.

Perfectly good roof now. Want to keep it that way

Spread your weight.
Get 2 or 3 2'X2' pieces of 1/2" plywood, make sure you're always standing on 1.
3 or more will make it easer to get around the ac,vents etc.

i haven't been on the roof yet for this very reason and i also dis-trust the ladder. (im also a big guy 6'1" ~315 lbs.)

however i sleep in the over cab bed and that ladder is only rated at about 200 pounds. i can see it bending when i use it to get in the bed. i try to step on the sofa and step on it as little as possible.

Does Thor publish or recommend any weight limits for the roof?

I'm 275 and worry it might be too much pressure on the roof. The plywood is a good idea to spread out the weight and reduce pressure points.

Going to be installing a couple flexible solar panels. I think I can do it from a ladder and not have to be on the roof because I am going to use Eternabond tape to hold them down versus installing rigid panels and drilling holes for mounts.

At some point I am going to need to add some Dicor to places or Eternabond tape instead of Dicor so that will require some on roof time.

Trying to decide if I am just going to send the wife up to do it instead of me....

I had two big guys on the roof when they replaced one of my A/Cs. I did not ask their weight but I would estimate over 225 lbs. No holes. The minim live load roof rating for a residential building is 20 lbs/sqft. I would think an RV roof would be at least 50 lbs/sqft just to support the A/Cs. Having seen the bare roofing structure at plants 750 and 850, I can say there is no special structure around the A/Cs. Just a guess in actuality.

Generally you can see the outline/indentation of the trusses...just stay close to them. My wife went up on roof not long ago...she weights 128...she didn't feel any flex at all...anywhere...she even bounce up and down in a few places testing it out. Mine has aluminum, square tubular trusses with plywood overlay.

I have been up on mine I am 6”5 235lbs and have had any problems being on the roof. Now I don’t like heights so I actually kind of army crawl across the roof which I tell myself helps spread the weight around for the good.
