Tuesday morning the DW and I were in southern New Hampshire planning our day when we get a call from the Red Cross asking for our help with disaster relief in Hattiesburg Mississippi.
My wife and I are Escapee RV Club members and belong to their Red Cross volunteer group known as DOVES..Disaster Operations Volunteer Escapees.
We drove the 1550 miles and arrived at the campground on Thursday night. The only incident along the way was a tire losing pressure on the Redwood. Thankfully a trucker gave me a blast of his horn to let me know there was a problem. Thank God for people like that and road side assistance. I've been thinking about getting a tire pressure monitoring system and this incident convinced to do it.
In the morning we report for duty serving food to people in the shelter and Red Cross volunteers out in the field. Things around here are as wet as wet can be but thankfully at the end of our 12 hour shift we have a dry, comfortable place to go to.
