Well today we are not Happy Campers. We were scheduled to go camping at a Federal Corp of Engineers campground W.P. Franklin N Lock campground and today they notified us effective 3/23 the park will be closed and all reservations were canceled and they refunded our money. What a bummer. This situation has to stop.

Delayed first trip

Well we had reservations for our first camping trip in our 2018 Axis 25.2 for this weekend. It was with a camping club the dealer has. We live in Florida and the campground was in Florida too. Trip was cancelled because of Covid -19 concerns
Kind of sad this is happening because we were looking forward to being with a group while we were in the beginning stages of camping in the motorhome in case we had issues.
Hopefully after a few months the camping club trips can start again.

Ducksface...I meant to ask you earlier. We just got a tire monitor from Amazon. What do you have your high lows pressure and temps set at?

We have a trip planned to OBX for the month of April. As of today they are restricting all travel in OBX to residents only.

This situation has to stop.
A cancelation wouldn't bother me at all.
Unless by saying
Camping
You really mean
Parking
Maybe you could try a bit of boondocking.

Experiment and be happy.

Sue and Breeze are trapped far from home with dwindling chances of finding a place to park. THEY have a worry, not an inconvenience.

Tire monitors are set at 70front and 65 rear.
I THINK the alarms are for 15% over and 5%under.
Temps are tough one out here because it's Arizona and we can go from 44° at our place, drive 180 miles and be in 126`in the shade Temps and God knows what road Temps. I think I turned off my heat alarm due to this.

Missing the group thing for your first outing does indeed suck. We learned a lot from Jerry and gnach and taylorbob at our only California meet.
But
Boondocking and a neighbor will learn you lots of stuff too.

Personally, me?
I'd drive it around, practice pulling into gas pumps, practice putting into two spaces instead of four (it should be easy to find an empty parking lot) make a sandwich, find out how long popcorn REALLY takes to pop, drive with the roof vents open to see if the noise drives you nuts, have the spousal unit walk around adjusting rattles at 70MPH, setup the tv's and watch a movie. Dick around with the Ota antenna. Everything you'd do camping except the socializing. Traffic is probably as light as you'll ever see it. Make whichever of you won't drive the rv...drive the rv. Back it up a dozen times, learn to trust the camera.

I used to work UNGODLY long hours. The best father's day picnics were on our living room floor at 1 am....

Yes. Drag strips closing and Disney World closed. Florida not same lockdown as Cal yet but we may get there. No confirmed cases in our county. Wife and I going to stay in central florida home until this blows over, young people at south florida house.

Trip to NC in 2 weeks has little to no chance of happening.

No issues just will hang out. Wife sews/knits and I have a race engine to rebuild. Hope everyone stays safe and this bunp in the road passes.

What kind of race engine?
It was a sad day for me when I passed up the Keith black, gale banks dual turbo collaborative chev bigblock, piranha driven. $3,500.

I didn't want a flat bottom boat and it was just too pristine for me to cut up. A spectacular barn find. 22 hrs on it....

Factory block 406, steel crank, forged pistons and rods. Aluminum heads and single plane intake. Goes 6.80s 1/8th, 10.70s 1/4 mile. Just needed rings, bearings and gaskets. Was raced for 6 months then sat for 6 years. I put it in my car for a whole season and won 3 events. Now have a 357 in running 7.2x 1/8th and 11.2x in 1/4. Even retired is still a lot of fun. Won 1 race so far with 357. In 1st place and one track and 4th at another.

So,
Way back when I bought a 69 Dana camaro 9,000 miles on it. A sailor had ordered it built while on a ship, picked it up the day he got out.
Same deal as a Nikki but west coast dealer.

Dealer installed 427, only real rock rusher I'd ever seen.
Yellow rsSS with a yellow hounds tooth interior. (edit:this is wrong. The Dana was a non camaro blue special ordered, I'm vaguely remember him telling me El camino color. My 396 was the yellow one)
It came with time slips at 128mph 10.98 quarter.
I've only mentioned this car because of your time slip times. I think it pulled 128mph at about 1000ft and then you held it there. Exactly as it came from Dana.

So scary to drive I tore out the entire wiring harness just so I wouldn't be tempted to drive it again.

I miss street drag cars. But I got where I just didn't like the nature of the people who owned them.
RSR was more my thing.
Had a fiat 850 and a Lancia Stratos for a while. Also had a 70 1/2 z28 stripe delete manual disc brakes and manual steering. Heater, no ac, radio delete. M50's and g60's.

Recently sold a 401 AMC javelin 4sp, not an amx, a javelin. Rarest non mythical muscle car made by number, 41 of them in any color. You had to pay more to not get the disc brakes on the amx.
People will pay three times the value of that AMC to have some girly, made 200,000 of them, mustang. I chased that specific exact car since I was 17. Finally bought it in odd, but not bad shape from the family. I'm too smart to dump $60,000 into a $20,000(IF you had a real collector on the hook) car. I sold it as a project. Original in all ways except the battery. Carb, starter alternator, radiator, cap. Spare tire, shift knob were all original.

I have just one old turd left. It drives and is ready to go, but it's just garage art now.
If I'd have had it when the dual turbo came up I'd have thrown that boat away.

I thought maybe a change of pace to this thread and some stories from home... Where we will all be for month or so.
I can read/hear all the discontent I want on youtube.

I'd trade it for a dog turd shaped like George Washington if I really liked that dog turd.
It was my daily driver in lake Havasu city.
Roads too bad here, transient tourists on phony international drivers licenses headed to the grand canyon, elk, 65mph minimum speed limit.

It just sits now. Everyone wants it, no one want ls to trade anything interesting.

And speaking of home stories....
Are you home or still in
'the ward'?

Now back to the topic of the thread.

It is starting to get tougher to find places to stay. So we might hunker down for a month or two and then make a decision then.

That restriction, at least for Dare County, has been in place for a few days. They are allowing residents and property owners only with checkpoints established. That was reported by my local news on Wednesday.

Flagstaff went well for the ladies shopping trip.
Found everything in their lists, people were polite and patient, no long lines, parking not a problem.
Tall guys helping shortfolks, smiles and excuse me's.
Clerks seemed happy.

They said it was as nice of a shopping day as they've had in town.

Real Bummer here on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We had planned on riding this out until early April. Seems that the State of Florida has had it with the Spring Breakers partying & twerking and not heading the 'no more than ten' peeps suggestions. The Governor has now closed all access at Fort Myers Beach too! We heard that they are ticketing violators (not sure if that is true) but we came to the Red Coconut RV Park three days ago, to use the beach. We do no not want sit in our RV with the A/C running. My DW is totally bummed out now and we will be heading home to the Mitten today.

"YES DEAR"!

The few times I've visited a hospital I've found the food to be pretty good.
The hospital in Irvine California and the one in Flagstaff Arizona, I'd go to them as readily as I would a sit down chain like coco's or Marie Callendars.

You are a rare bright spot in my blase' with this forum, I wish you the best and fastest of recovery.

Italy is NOT the USA. There's many and varied reasons Italy (and Iran) are in the fix they are in.
