When turning that pipe you'll want something to hold that coupling from turning.
If it turns, you might as well remove the tank to work on it all.
I'm going to suggest a small pipe wrench grabbed onto it and wedged to the floor.
And
I'd use a length of water heater Flexible braided line to make that corner.
No sense in having a place for it to bust again.
Or, since it's just the drain;
A length of the clear tubing to make that corner.
However you do it, ridgid should be the last choice.
