It's not the impeller blades but the plastic fins that the sewer hose lock onto that break off.

You won't have that issue with your design because it is permanently mounted. In my case I connect and disconnect a 2' sewer hose so I had to worry about the plastic fins breaking from connecting and disconnecting the sewer hose. Once that happens the macerator has to be replaced.
