Pull up on the end of the bed. The platform has struts. There is some storage space under it. The access hatch to the engine is under the carpet which is under the bed. I pulled up some of the carpet and found the opening. Cut around the edges. Stapled it down. I have a pneumatic stapler. Moved the mounting screws on top of the carpet with fender washers. If any work, and I mean any work, other than oil and filter changes needs to be done, the hatch has to come off. Be proactive and make it easy for a mechanic to get to it. Yes all under the bed must be moved prior to having a mechanic look at it.

A "tilt-up bed" with a controller is not a hidden storage or engine access bed question. He wants the head of the bed to tilt up for TV viewing or laptop use.
However at this point, the OP has moved on to trying to find his batteries.
