Yes...the truck/chassis battery charges when on Shore power... however, as I remember...the House/coach batteries (under steps) charge first..then the BIRD under the hood allows the charge to go to the truck/chassis battery...the BIRD and Trombetta work together to make sure that nothing is charged incorrectly.
If you have Ed's Manual, it is helpful in learning about the electrical workings.
