Heads Up Display

Hey All,
I have been a believer in Heads Up Display since we have it on a vehicle we own. I noticed that when driving the Axis you really have to look down substantially to look at the speedometer. I bought one of these $35 heads up displays that plug in to the OBDII receptacle under the steering column. The only problem that I continued to have was that the piece of reflective plastic that glued to the inside of the windshield would not stay in place. I have since bought a stand alone reflective screen that is made for your IPhone. I think this may work even better and it lets you have the device closer to you in the event you want to toggle through different readouts. Picture to follow.

I have my Garmin RV 760 mounted on the curve above the speedometer. That displays the speed and the speed limit in my line of view. I have a ScanGuage 2 mounted below the display and above the steering column. That way I can glance down and get my MPG, etc.

Heads Up Display

This unit was only $37 when I bought it on Amazon and seems to work pretty well. I have the Garmin as well but I opt to place mine in the middle of the dash so the navigator can glance at it. Whatever works!

Earl,

I got a Heads up display ($25) last year and after several unsuccessful attempts trying to get the reflective panel to remain in place, I went low tech and taped it in with Scotch Clear tape. A year later it is still where I put it for less tape than a small present would use.

LC,
Yes, I had the same problem.... I even ordered a few extra and they fell off after a few days too. I haven't driven with the new set up but I will give it a try. I like keeping my eyes on those road targets, especially with the traffic and wild drivers of SoCal.

A question for you Heads Up users if you do not mind. Since getting my ACE I find it hard to see the dash gauges. It seems they are not bright enough when looking down at them.

Are the Heads Up displays as bright as they look in the pictures?

Be Happy,

I have the drive lights turned on and still the guages are hard to focus on while driving. Also in the Vegas when I have the steering wheel where it is comfortable for long driving the top of the steering wheel blocks part of the view of the speedometer.

Yes, the scan guage is very bright and can be seen even when driving into the setting sun!

This is something new to me, sorry about high jacking the thread. I have one more question on the display. When waring the polarized sun glasses can you still see the display?

I thank all for this topic, in process of ordering, have to go to my unit to check if its the obd ll .

Be Happy,

No problems with the cheap Polarized glasses. I lost my last pair of $250 Versace Avator's to the depths of Lake Norman several years ago...and now I stay with the WalMart Specials.
