Mysterious Freshwater

Greetings, I just finished a four day stay in a northern Texas campsite. As I was breaking camp, I noticed water leaking from the freshwater filling port. Inspecting the tank, I found it full. When we arrived it was at three quarters. We were connected to shore water for the entire visit and I did not touch the freshwater tank. Does anyone have an idea as to how the mystery water may have entered the tank?

Backflow through the water pump. My be due to crap in the check-valve. Clean the pump strainer and run the pump to clean it out. If that doesn't fix it you may need a pump rebuild kit or a new pump.

Sounds like a good place to start. I figured there was a check-valve in the system somewhere. Thanks, Tfryman.

I had the same issue a couple of trips ago. I did almost what Tfryman suggests here and haven't had any more problems. Rather than removing and cleaning the strainer, since I wasn't going to be home for almost three weeks, I just unhooked the city water and ran the fresh water for several minutes, then drained about 1/3 of the water I had in the fresh water tank and went two days on the road using only fresh water. Then, I hooked city water back up and watched it closely. I haven't had any more problems. Apparently whatever debris had fouled the check-valve was flushed out by running the pump and what splashing around the water did while driving. Just to be sure, though, I plan to remove the pump strainer and clean it real good before heading on our next trip.
