Repairing Atwood Furnace

A few months back I noticed ocassional chattering and vibrations from the furnace on our 30.1. At one point I thought I heard the motor stop and restart so I turned the unit off until we returned home. I disassembled the unit and found have of the wheel was shredded. Today I replaced the wheel made sure all was good and secure and restarted. It seems the unit still has a rattle or vibration. Does anyone else have any squeaking or rattling from the DC fan motor when it is running? Notice the clicking when I power the unit down. Any thoughts on if this is normal? The motor bearing appears ok and not binding.

The squirrel cage is not adjusted on the motor shaft correctly. When the unit starts and stops the shaft on the motor will go in and out a little. So you have to adjust till you get that happy medium.

Hope this helps!

My 2015 24.1 Vegas furnace stopped working and it's going to be -2º

I'm plugged into 30 amp AC. The battery shows 4 red lights. The propane works on the stove and I have ¾ full tank. I turn on the thermostat and nothing happens. The red LED on the furnace circuit board flashes a code for "Air Limit" Does this point to a bad sail switch or something else?
If I plug in a second AC space heater it trips the breaker. Can you bypass the sail switch with a jumper? I'm cold!

I recently had a problem with my furnace not working. Whenever I moved the temp setting to warmer, the thermostat would make the clicking sound but would do nothing. No blower fan or ignition at furnace. Found a loose wire nut connector at the thermostat. Don't know if this could be your problem or not but may be worth a check.

Sorry, can't answer your question about the sail switch.

Hope this helps and you can find some warmth.

Daveht,

Great recommendation. I pulled the unit apart yesterday to replace the squirrel cage blower, sail switch, and front cover (tabs broken). What I found during the disassemble is the the band clamp that secures the fan motor was finger tight so it had obviously caused the squirrel cage fan to float within the unit, which could have caused the fan to come in contact with sail switch, edge of cover, etc. When I replaced the squirrel cage fan only it appeared there was still interference (squealing, clicking etc) Once I replaced all parts at properly secured the motor with the band clamp there is no noise at all, just the hum of the motor and woosh of air.

Thanks again for the suggestion, you helped me get there!!
