I bracket race so we are stand alone for up to 5 days at a time. To keep hours off inside onan, I use a champion 3500 mounted on open racecar trailer. Depending on outside conditions, it runs 12 to 14 hours on 3.5 gal of gas. Noise not an issue. When we dry camp anywhere else, I bolt it to hitch basket so I can keep internal fuel/generator in reserve. I know I am only 30 amp service for Vegas but other guys do same for 50 amp RVs. Much better to put tons of hours on $300 or $500 extrenal generator than $3,500 to $6,500 internal generator.
