The factory Motorcraft filter seems fine. Any upgraded filter will be fine. Different OEMs and producers use differing anti-drainback valves. Sometimes they do not stay sealed. During routine use if you ever start an engine and notice it clatters or sounds drastically different, you may want to change oil and filter. If the engine has been sitting for extended period they may also sound a little loud.

My experience with big name orange filters has not been great on 3 different engines. They were replaced immediately.

I use Wix or Purolator on race engine and cut periodically. Most times, the oil bypasses the filter due to combination of heavy viscosity and high oil pressure.
