It heats up pretty quick, though it does take a few minutes longer than gas. The one I have is pellet fired only. It gets however hot you set temperature for, so burgers, bacon, yes bacon
veggies, etc... are super easy and doesn't have the hot/cold spots a typical gas grill has so that small surface is fully usable and you don't have to watch things.
