My 2 cents....

Fuel quality can certainly affect how an engine runs, but running octane rating higher than necessary won't help in my opinion.

My V10 (2-valve model) just turned 150,000 "easy" miles last night driving from Texas to Florida, and I have never had any surging or other problems. While I only run 87 Octane, I buy it mostly from Exxon or other major brand (Shell, Texaco, Chevron, etc.). I avoid all generic fuel stations.

I trust (perhaps I shouldn't ????) that major brands have higher quality control and use better fuel additives. There is a lot of controversy on this subject, so I play it safe even though it cost a bit more. On the other hand, I won't pay for higher Octane.

Your Ace has the 3-valve V10 but that in itself shouldn't make a difference.
