Finally got switched over to two 6 volt batteries yesterday.
Old 12 volt junk
Positioned the new ones in trying to find the best combo for running wires where they needed to go.
Then realized the new was taller. I had measured and knew it would be close.
So I wired it and tighten the bolts to get that part of the project done.
Then it was off to the hardware store.
I had one spot that I couldn't put trim on with the battery cables. The screws are just drywall screws, I checked for fit before I ran them in.
At the suggestion of another member I had pulled the step off already. I just moved it up the same distance as my wood trim spacer and then moved the latch up the same amount.
The finished product looks great and I don't even notice the extra height difference in the step. I may paint the wood eventually...but with two kids and two dogs I'm sure it will match pretty quickly.
